Even a Friscan lacks enlightenment on this issue...weird.
It's one thing to question if Manti Teo is gay...it's another to say that he must be gay because of these actions, which is what most people who take the gay angle are saying in this thread. The people who give credibility to this correlation may not know that they are demeaning gay people, but they are.
No one in this thread has stated that being gay is a mental illness. I don't know where you are coming up with that.
Many mental health professionals have offered some very enlightened and informed opinions on this issue.

Varg reads "this can happen to that generation and he deserves Compassion" and interprets that to mean he's mentally ill and those wondering if he could be gay must think all gay people are mentally ill.
now you are just making things up here...no one in this thread has stated that all gay people are mentally ill.
I don't know either...
yeah...no one has stated that all gay people are mentally ill. However, the correlating irregular behavior that suggests mental illness and a gay sexual identity is troubling. These people have not made statements, but it does reek of institutionalized bigotry and does smack of deep seeded judgments.
as a nation, and as a society, we continue to push through these institutionalized patterns of bigotry and prejudice. It's not going to be an overnight change, but gradually, we will get these types of deep-seeded thoughts out of the heads of future generations.
Can't spell "closet" without "teo".
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
First: you said Teo suffered from a mental illness, not I.
Second: I asked you for a diagnosis, since you have been banging this gong throughout the thread. I was truly curious what you would come up with. The article you linked makes no diagnosis, and talks about how today's youth "grow up glued to an iPhone and iPad, and this has had a profound effect on [their] level of social awareness and emotional intelligence," and that they suffer a "profound lack of street smarts."
Third: that's not mental illness. It may deserve compassion, but for you to keep saying Teo is mentally ill because he was hoaxed (if that's indeed what he was) is an insult to people who suffer from mental illness.
Fourth: Quit trolling. It's played.
Thank you, Denicos.
The article you link suggests the behavior Teo engaged in was common, not "irregular." You're talking out your ass here.
Sorry, I was told by someone that you are the greatest troll in RCMB history because you don't mean a thing you say but everyone believes you.
I must be crazy to be in a loony bin like this.
And when that happens, scared individuals like Manti won't have to make up lavish stories about a make believe girlfriend in order to hide his homosexuality from his family, church and peers.
Per TMZ, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo (or whatever) blames three factors for his, eh, conduct: pressure from his faith, the Samoan community and football culture. In other words, he really has little ultimate responsibility. It was the fault of his background, religion and organized sports.
Incidentally, what does this loser do for a living - how does he pay his bills?
"deep seeded"? Is that the opposite of a blessing in the skies? Mind bottling!

Dude, you're outing yourself
...as a gigantic idiot.
No one calls people "Friscan", clown
NO idea, but I would imagine that the book and movie rights to his "story" will pay the bills for awhile....sad, but true.
After hearing everything SO FAR and it seems like there's more twists and turns, why is it not feasible that he's both gay and mentally ill? You couldn't buy a story as bizarre as this one is playing out.
Sounds like Leenay to me...
When the first part of Dr. Phils demands and perform the voice of Lennay Kekua? Today we got the answer: sort of.
My god the blowhards in this thread just make me want to scream!
The theory about Manti being gay stems from the fact that a possible scenario is that he went along with the fake girlfriend thing to help him pass in the sports/hetero world. I don't think anyone ever said he and Ronaiah ever had a physical relationship or there is evidence that Manti has had actual gay relationships in the past. The whole mental illness thing linking to being gay is incredibly ignorant and offensive to all.
Early on I said he's either the dumbest person on the planet, he's gay/ashamed/deceitful, or he's very cunning and created a story for publicity (which horribly backfired on him). Now it looks like option A could be the winner....he's dumb as a box of rocks. This is the strangest story I've heard in years.

And now, the next logical piece of this story: Ronaiah was molested.
The gay theory has never made sense in the first place, because there's no logical reason -- even in this insane story -- for killing the girlfriend off. If Te'o thought people suspected something wasn't right, he would've just said "we broke up." Why would he not only say that Lennay died, but that (people seem to forget this part) she died on the exact same day that his real grandmother died!?!
