With all the talk about officiating I think Nix's performance is getting overlooked. While he didn't score a lot, he was efficient at that end of the floor and made some really nice passes. And if Zeller didn't get to the line a couple times Nix completely shut him down. Ran with him in transition, rebounded well, and battled down low. Good game big fella, keep it up
Don't post poop!
It's the best I have ever seen him pass out of the double team. He was a lot quicker with his decision making in the low post.
He had a lot of assists today. One of the best things he did today was on an out of bounds play. He completely did an Anti-Maxwell, looked the guy off and threw it to Harris who knocked down the 3.
Nix played his best defensive game as a Spartan (as did Payne - Watford did NOTHING). Offensively he was average.
He led all players in the game with 6 assists, in fact.

Really afraid he was going to get run out by Zeller, but he really came through.
Nix had 6 assists and checked Zeller, excellent game by Nix.

One of his best games as a Spartan, IMHO. Zeller is not going to be looking forward to coming to EL.
Today's game showed that we clearly have the best frontcourt in the Big 10, and possibly the country.

Nix played a very good game. The stat that jumps out to me is that he did not have one free throw attempt considering all of the times he got the ball on the block. Not his fault, but how the game was getting called.
I think the coaches worked on that with him this week after the Wisconsin game. If him and Payne okay like this..we are unstoppable.
I am proud of Nix today. I'm proud of this team because they came to play and got absolutely robbed by shady officiating.
A Harris fast-break dunk with 3:32 left cut Indiana’s lead to 71-70. The Spartans would not score again, though they complained loudly on the next offensive possession when Nix was called for traveling while tangled up with IU’s Jordan Hulls.
“Clearly, he fouled me,” Nix said of the play, “but the refs see what they want to see and call what they want to call.”
You tell 'em, big fella.
Michigan State essentially played at Indiana today without its leading scorer and point guard, yet the Spartans still nearly pulled off the upset at raucous Assembly Hall.
Thank you, Denicos.
This team is fun to watch when they commit themselves to defense. I didn't even realize Watford was out there until he shot a pair of free throws towards the end. I think this loss has given me more optimism for the season than any of the wins, save Kansas (maybe).
This is where Appling's decisions at crunch time were missed.
Even some of Nix's haters on Twitter had to recognize.
@DerrickNix25: RT @scottth1: I've hated on you before @DerrickNix25 but you dominated Zeller today. Made him look like a punk bitch. Thanks bro
I wonder what Clemenza and Big Ten Referee thought of his play today
Dwayne Stephens is an excellent coach.
This board fires him three times a year.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
Uh.no. He was much better than average offensively. His passes were quick and spot on, had 6 assists from the 5 spot. And he was a tidy 4-8 from the field with 6 boards, taking it right to zellers chest on a couple of baskets. Only two tos. He had an above average offensive game when u look at the full picture.
One Night! One team! Kill blue! Bleed Green!
"Costello would've done just as good of a job."
you know who.
Thought he looks very good today overall.
That was a beautiful maxwell reference. Gotta hand it to you. It's like he pulled a cook, he pump faked to sims to allow him to get open then zinged it to him for a key first down. Great play nix!
Keeping the sunshiners in check since 2000.
Nix played well but he needs to get to the free throw line more often to be a legit low post player.
Wish I could +100 this. Nix dominated Zellar. You put a wide body and that guy and he's got nothing. I'm loving the two headed Nix/Payne monster more and more each game.
You're in college. The window of opportunity to drink and do drugs and take advantage of young girls is getting smaller by the day.
