Random question, but does anyone here comment on the ESPN Conversation Boards for Tigers games?

#Tigers not likely to be in pursuit of free-agent reliever Brian Wilson. Dombrowski says #Tigers can't offer him an opportunity to close.
I tend to agree with you. Rondon has a fastball you can't teach....tremendous potential, bright future, might be ready, etc. But there has to be a handcuff given the investment in winning this team is making.....
"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." --Gandhi
I agree, but the book on Rondon is the fastball come with a plus slider and a steadily improving change up that he is confident in throwing.
But yeah, I wouldn't mind a vet of some sorts getting a shot for insurance sake.
Can someone say "monetary leverage?"
He's very interested in Brian Wilson but probably not willing to pay the asking amount.
We still have Dotel.
Do you think if it was determined Rondon wasn't the man for the job in '13 in, say, early May, that Dotel could be good enough at closer all the way to Oct? I'm not saying otherwise, I just didn't think many people think that of Dotel.
Probably not full time ; but as the poster stated, if by committee you have Dotel, Coke , and Benoit, and even Al, I feel as comfortable as having Valverde before his meltdown.
The Tigers felt the same way about 2nd base going into last season.....
Ask him about going to the Tigers...
Here's a true story...no joke: I once went to the bar with Chase Utley and Pat Burrell. It was Chase's 2nd year in the league and he was complaining about being stuck behind Placido Polanco and how unhappy he was with the Phillies. I told him to tell his agent to get him to the Tigers... I told him we had Omar Infante at 2nd but he could move to SS and Guillen would then move to 3rd... Him and Infante could form the best young infield in the game and he'd be the face of the organization... total drunk talk but I really tried.
The next year the Phillies traded us Placido Polanco, so I'd like to think I had something to do with that.
And none of the second base options were either.
Coke would be the first in line for saves if Rendon proves ineffective.
Not sure about that. You'd be taking away your only LHP in the bullpen for situational time. Leyland liked Coke to close against the Yankees last ALCS because it was only their lefties who were hitting.
I just don't see Leyland saving Coke for the 9th if two or more right hand batters are due up. I could see Coke being used to spot close against teams who have stacked lefties due up for the 9th.
5:01pm: Scherzer's deal will pay him $6.725MM -- the midpoint between the two figures, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports (on Twitter).
The Tigers avoided arbitration with right-hander Max Scherzer, Brian Britten of the Tigers announced (on Twitter). Scherzer, a client of the Boras Corporation, obtains a one-year deal for 2013.
Scherzer filed for $7.4MM and the Tigers countered with a $6.05MM offer, as MLBTR's Arbitration Tracker shows. The 28-year-old will go to arbitration one more time following the 2013 season then hit free agency two offseasons from now. The Tigers have now avoided arbitration with all of their eligible players.

Tigers' Opening Day Roster set at $149M
I really, REALLY like this roster.
There's no Raburn, no Inge, no Young. If Boesch/Berry are the two worst outfielders we have coming off the bench, I'm perfectly fine with that. Leyland's style of managing won't be as stressful this season when he goes to his bench the way he does
Seems to be a pretty solid team this year. I have a feeling this team will gel a little better than the 2012 squad.
Is Boesch taking over for Raburn and Inge on the fan's hatred meter or will there be a new Tigers goat for each loss?
I would be surprised if Boesch has any significant contribution to the Tigers this year. If he was right handed he might have a shot at the bench spot. As it is right now, he is behind Dirks and Berry on the depth chart.
Wouldn't be surprised if the Tigers are doing a little bit of last minute shopping for a cheap RH outfielder and bullpen arm.
Agree that they're probably still looking for a RH backup outfielder, likely somebody that hits lefties well.
Regarding Dirks/Boesch/Berry, Dirks is ahead of the other two and has a roster spot locked up. Boesch and Berry though are on equal footing, both have a shot at a roster spot, but neither is guaranteed anything. Both have to hit better than they did last year, otherwise neither will be on the team.
We are not the same, I am a Spartan
I agree that it is a spring training battle for Berry and Boesch. Either way, I would love it if they could get an upgrade. Boesch and Berry aren't that good.
