According to Arians, they don't think they need another qb
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians made a statement with more than his red hat this morning. During his appearance at the NFC coaches breakfast at the owners meetings, Arians gave a vote of confidence to recent quarterback acquisition Drew Stanton.

Ermygerd I feel like we've had 15 threads about this.
Drew will always be one of my favorite Spartans. He may not have had the success of others, but I feel he embodied the notion of what it was to be a Spartan. I wish him great success and hope this can truly be his breakout moment.
I think its more around 5. Do you still read everyone?
Did they sign Stanton? I knew they tendered Hoyer. Missed that they signed Drew.

It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
According to the Associated Press, there's "no doubt" the Cardinals are leaning toward Drew Stanton as their starter.
On Wednesday, coach Bruce Arians insisted his team doesn't need to hunt for a quarterback. "We already found one," he said. Arians may be sending up a smokescreen, but his faith in Drew Stanton appears real. Stanton knows the system after spending last year as Andrew Luck's backup, has good arm strength and has gone 2-2 as an NFL starter. "I have all the confidence in the world with him being our starter," Arians said. Still, if Stanton is viewed as anything more than a bridge to the Cardinals' long-term solution at quarterback, it will be a mistake.
Watch them draft Geno Smith and the horrible luck of Stanton and Hoyer continue.
Not sure if Geno Smith is really what they need. I think they'd be best off grabbing the best OL on the board.
I always wanted Stanton to get a chance to start. I was pissed when Martz tried to ruin his career before it started, and I was also pissed when he went to the Jets (where I am positive he would have eventually taken over for Sanchez) and then those idiots went out and got Tebow. I can't wait to see what he does in Arizona, I am very confident he will be a good NFL QB.
According to Aryans, they don't think they need a black QB.
Jets fan here.
He was such a stud as a Spartan....def one of my all-time favs. I seriously think he could have been as good as Stafford given the chance, with speed and toughness. Really hope he gets a chance to prove everyone wrong.
Imagine if Detroit had given him a chance and he turned out to be very good, they could have spent the money they buried into Stafford to shore up the rest of the team and be MUCH more balanced, instead of having all their money on two offensive players.
the problem with Drew has been his chronic inability to stay healthy, going back to his MSU days.

I guarantee a former MSU grad wins the job!
Really? I know he got hurt the one time he was starting for the Leo's but other than that has he been hurt?
Well, if the Cardinals are comparing him to what they have had at QB since Kurt Warner retired, he probably looks like a combination of Tim Tebow and Tom Brady. No wonder they are happy to have him.
Stanton just can't seem to catch a break.
Came here to post that.
Damn you Arizona!

There's a big difference between playing backup to franchise QBs Stafford and Luck than a nearly-retired Palmer. Palmer will probably win the starting job to start the season, but when he inevitably struggles or gets injured, Stanton should still get his shot this year...
Sad and this tells you that they have no faith in Stanton or Hoyer as their starting QB.
I love Stanton, but he's, to date, a career backup QB, and Hoyer wasn't even on a NFL roster at the beginning of last year. So it's no surprise that they'd look to hire a veteran. That being said, I agree with Vin that Palmer will likely underwhelm and they'll get their looks.
yup, gotta be patient, i think one of them will get a chance eventually.
and call me crazy, but if arians wanted to bring stanton with him so bad, i've gotta believe that he's going to let stanton compete some. palmer is the sexy play by upper management
Palmer will probably get hurt playing behind that terrible O-line in AZ (unless they're able to improve it a LOT this offseason), so Stanton most likely gets significant PT anyway. Even in Palmer doesn't get hurt, he hasn't exactly looked great in his time at Oakland.
Love both of the guys, but can you really blame the Cardinals? They just gave Fitzgerald an absolute ton of money only to see it wasted last year. I'm not saying Stanton or Hoyer couldn't do it, but I think you'd have to feel more comfortable with an established vet like Palmer
What's a former MSU grad? Did MSU take their degrees away from them or something?
