Damn, he was great as the Bears coach.
YOUR have been banned from reading and posting on the Michigan Wolverine board.
Bring him and his staff to the Lions.
I actually thought the Bears overachieved this year, if anything. Shitty quarterback, shitty offensive line, shitty receivers, good defense but an OLD defense that can't withstand the rigors of a 16 game season...and 10-6 in a very tough division. He should be getting an extension.
"RCMB: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainry." - some dude from MgoBlog
Lions need to hire him.
"If they want to mock us, I'm telling them it's not over. It will never be over here. It's just starting." - Mark Dantonio, 2007
Once Lovie took that team to the Superbowl, the fan base and owners expected big things from them. Yes his defense is on the decline, but so have the Bears in general been on decline since that Superbowl run.
I loved him when he was coaching my Rams from 01-03
Bears deserve to falter. He went 10-6 in the best division in FB, with an old and broken D and no line.
He is rather clueless a offensive coach, and he hasn't exactly put together a competent offensive staff. Promoting Mike Tice to OC was a mistake.

They didn't overachieve. 10-6 is exactly what I expected from them (and what a lot of knowledgable Bears fans expected).
And they don't have a shitty quarterback and especially not shitty receivers. Your standards must be very high.
So there's no plot its just straight into the action?
What is special about Chicago's receivers? Shitty may be stretching it, but those guys don't strike fear into anyone. They also have had issues at TE (poor Kellen Davis).
Jay Cutler is Tony Romo with a shitty attitude. Lots of talent, and looks other-worldly at times, but is anti-clutch and will never win you anything.
Uhh Brandon Marshall is one of the top three WRs in the NFL.
It had been a wonderful evening and what I needed now, to give it the perfect ending, was a little of the Ludwig Van.
Uhh that is only one guy. Chicago ranks 21st in the NFL in total receiving stats.
Would you take stafford or cutler? Pretty interesting question, imo.
Stafford in a heartbeat. Cutler is a whiny bitch.
Chicago is the worst 10 win team i've ever seen. I have no idea how they managed to win ten games. Lovie deserves to be fired for hiring cast offs Tice and Marinelli as coordinators alone. and that's after Martz! they just want to get rid of him before he can hire Schwartz when he gets fired
Pretty crazy to go down the list of coaches fired today...Andy Reid has been declining for a few years, Crennell has always sucked as a head coach...and then you get Lovie Smith, who won ten effing games this season and had one of the best defenses in the league.
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
A. what does Cutler being a "whiny bitch" have to do with his ability to play football? Neither one are elite QB, both have significant flaws in their game (and they are quite similar), and if Cutler had the weapons and offense Stafford has, his stats would look similar.
B. Marinelli is a great D-Line coach, which is all that he does for the Bears (he may be coordinator in name, but Lovie ran the D). The DL has played well for the Bears, and have seen nice development out of young players like Melton, Paea, and Wooten.
Lovie had to go, the Bears were heading in the wrong direction, and the window with the defense was closed. Lovie being gone all but confirms that Urlacher won't be back next year.
Go Bears, Blackhawks, White Sox, and Pioneers.
Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand
You asked what is special about Chicago's WRs. I told you that Brandon Marshall is special.
Do you consider the Lion's WRs to be shitty, even though Calvin Johnson would be included? It's not an all or nothing equation.
Lovie also missed the playoffs 5 out of the last 6 years. And, yes, his defenses were great and opportunistic, but they had a ton of talented players at or near their prime during those 6 years on defense, and the team directed a lot of its resources towards that side of the ball.
Lovie also made frequent mistakes with clock and/or replay challenge management, and the Bears seemed to blow an inordinate number of timeouts just being late getting plays in, which has been frustrating over the years, and has always given a sense that things weren't quite as organized as they should be.
On the plus side, the players loved him and I think that plus the D kept the Bears competitive.
He's a good coach to a point, definitely better than average, and I would imagine he will have another life somewhere, but after 9 years, and only one playoff appearance in the last 6...time to move on.
