What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
People seem to talk about ESPN like they're supposed to have some moral obligation about their programming and coverage. They're out for ratings just like everyone else and apparently are pretty fucking good at it. Other channels rerun their shows multiple times a week and promote them all day long but for some reason ESPN is supposed to walk some different line.
They do pretty good at the Sports Emmys too.

Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance
I call bullshit
Exhibit A: gHost's stories
The Jersey Shore channel is much worse. Drama is bad enough, but made up drama....
Let me know when you find any channel worth watching.
It's a race to the bottom when it comes to television.
The premium channels are usually worth their money, but that's about it.
ESPN used to be a bastion of sports journalism. They have unashamedly eschewed any sense of journalistic integrity in favor of ratings. This tends to annoy people.
And it goes beyond providing more coverage to the leagues they have contracts with. It involves focusing on individual players who are not relevant to that league because they get a little bump in the ratings when that individual is discussed (see coverage of Tim Tebow's offseason).

I just hate how all ESPN does now is hype everything, they will take the flavor of the week and gush about them until a new one comes along or the previous one fails, and then they will rag on the previous flavor at every opportunity. It's very annoying.
I started souring on them a lot when they started hyping up games to death and would have a countdown clock to certain games. I mean that's just ridiculous even for the Super Bowl or something. I believe they did it for Michigan and OSU one year, and while that game decided who went to the national championship, OSU ended up getting embarrassed.
Seldom ever watch the 4 letter network except for PTI .
I read the news today, oh boy .. ..
About a lucky man who made the grade
Remember when New Year's day bowl games were broadcast on OTA networks? A total of 1 bowl games today on ABC/NBC/CBS.

I would post a comment but that would be an admission that I actually read this thread. So I'm not going to post.
Not as long as Lifetime is around.

It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
This bugs me too.
I need more room for my signature
I have watched (unfortunately) a lot of ESPN over the last few days, keeping up on bowl games and watching previews of upcoming ones. I have noticed something that, for some reason, is bugging the shit out of me. There is an anchor who has been on every time I watch, and I can't remember his name. But, he has this annoying habit of adding an "sh" sound to words. Straight becomes "shtraight", streak becomes "shtreak". Is this some sort of regional dialect I have never noticed? He is on right now, and I just can't take any more.
you have been succesfully TROLLED brah........
ESPN is like every major network such as CNN and etc. They use their power in the media to influence sports like CNN and Fox influence politics and MTV influence music. I used to be a fan of MTV when they actually showed music videos similar to ESPNvwhen they actually had good journalism. ESPN over the years has decided to go the route of hiring popular athletes and turn them into journalist and talking heads. They don't have any real journalists with the exception of a few shows like PTI. The good talent has left the company and went to real news such as Josh who does good morning America,,etc.
ESPN sucks but it's a necessary evil if you're a sports fan. Just steer clear of ESPN Radio (Cowherd, Mike & Mike, etc), Sports Center and garbage like First Take and Around The Horn. If you just want highlights then ESPNNEWS is still respectable.
The youngins around here probably don't remember when Sports Center was actually good. Dan Patrick, Keith Olberman, Kenny Mayne, Craig Kilborn...those were the good old days.

"RCMB: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainry." - some dude from MgoBlog
I've always thought ESPN really jumped the shark when they hosted that on-air birthday party for Tim Tebow. That, and using tweets as the basis of serious news coverage.
So ruthlessly hungover...how are you guys up so early? Jesus the thought of listening to the cock gobblers nearly made me barf.
In my personal opinion, the several dozen channels I have blacked out so that they don't even appear on my Guide are far worse than ESPN. If I thought ESPN was one of the worst channels on TV yet it is still one of the top 10 most viewed channels by me then that would mean I'm a fucking idiot.
