Around here no one gets any credit, only blame, so that would be no big deal and I realize you are using sarcasm!
Both mine and my wife's is dollar for dollar match to 3%. Just started to put money in this week. Not sure what I'm going to do to make up that missing cash flow but oh well.
Dollar for dollar up to 10%. But this thread reminds me I still need to transfer my 401k to my new employer.
My company matches my 401k . Sucks to suck.
Not surprised, mine matches 5.
I can't believe 35 minutes have gone by and nobody has said something about Subway having a 401k match...
While it's nice to see my retirement account going up, it really is only making up for lost time. The past 13 years have been some of the worst returns the market has had. You had the bubble burst in '00 and the market and real estate bust in '08. It seems like just when you're making up, something happens and you lose most of your gains. I think someone said on CNBC today that the S&P has only averaged about a 1% gain the last 13 years. Sounds about right.
I remember when the market was rocking in the late 90's, I calculated the future value of my portfolio averaging 'just' 10% a year, which was the average for the 20th century. I honestly felt I would be retired by now. Life isn't bad - I will still probably retire in a couple of years, but I still won't have as much money as I thot just 10 years ago.
I get 50 cents on the dollar up to 10 percent in our 401K. I also have a pension that currently puts away 12 percent on my monthly pay on their dime.
In todays times, I'm a lucky guy, and I know it.
please post in this thread every purchase you make going forward so I may short it and be a billionaire.
They donate a cold cut combo for each month you work there.
Seriously, who works there who makes enough money to enjoy that benefit? They match someone making $8 an hour, who can't afford to contribute to a 401K.
A wig on a pig.
I don't actually work at subway dumbass.
Fuck off db - I'm hemorrhaging $$ with all the S&P puts I bought
That's funny - +1 for you
What's the point of being alive if you just waste your life saving for everything? You can buy stuff, just don't go nuts.
If you put away $100 a month from age 30 to age 65, you will have a million dollars. There is no reason not to retire with dignity.
Don't get used to this....NFM
Like all good things, the performance-enhancing policies must come to an end.
Never said you did, dumbass.
I work for the Germans and its 100% up to 7.5% of your salary.
Deutschland Deutschland über alles!
I love compound interest but frankly I am not counting on my 401k "nest egg" to be sufficient when I hit retirement age (25-30 years from now).
Interest brah. Of course, you'd need to get 13% a year to have $1,000,000 in that time frame, but it's not impossible.
That said, my company matches dollar for dollar up to 4%. I started just before the lowest point the market got to in 09. Being still in my 20's, doing pretty well for the moment.
Annuitize that shit, bitch!
What I mean is that I am not expecting the markets to continue a perpetual upward trend. Black Swan events ... Inflation ... Would all contribute to whatever ends up in my 401k not being enough. I am currently evaluating medium-range hedging strategies.
You gotta diversify yo' bonds nigga
The day that my net worth is $0 will be one of the best days of my life. I hate student loans. I feel like the devil owns my soul. Its going to be a looooooong time before that day.
