They busted their nut in the BTT for nothing--literally--only to be upset by a trash team because they had no legs.
Ole Miss won the SEC Tournament. How were their legs?
This post was edited by NigelUno 13 months ago
i dont think it was because of a lack of legs as much as it was the fact that Bo's teams suck in the tourney when everything matters more and teams play it so much closer
I don't think Wisconsin losing early backs up your argument since that happens every year.
Or they could just suck in the tournament.

Another awesome thread by this guy.
Teenage kids have no problem getting their energy back after resting for 2 days, let alone 5 days. 50 yr olds would be good to go after 5 days

Drained or just not very good? People ridiculously overvalue two wins that take place the weekend before the tournament. If Wisky won two in a row during January, nobody would notice, but because they won them the weekend before the dance suddenly they're "hot" and become a fashionable pick.

In his defense, the numbers on how conference tournament runners up do in the dance are pretty stark. They rarely perform well. Whether that's due to being tired or not is debatable, but I do think the emotional energy expended is difficult to recoup in time for the tournament a few days letter.
But little of the above applies to Wisconsin. Anyone who watched them this season knows they just weren't a very good team. How could anyone pick a team that was shooting 7% - 7%! - in the second half against MSU a few weeks ago to go to the Elite 8 like a lot of people were doing??
Ole Miss won their tourney
Moving like they have cement shoes, jumping similarly......how could you tell if it was anything different than usual ?
If the B1G (re: Jim Delany) didn't condone...even encourage...flopping in the conference, Wisky would struggle to even make the NIT every season. Wisconsin basketball under Bo Ryan is just not conducive to achieving great success in the Big Dance. Talk about your perennial wallflower.
"I love March!" - Tom Izzo
Bo was 9-1 in his last 10 tourney games entering today so saying they suck in the Dance is a bit of exaggeration. They generally do what their seed dictates.....beat lower seeded teams, lose to higher seeds.
Ole Miss was a 12 seed...Wisky a 5. Oops.
Nice "numbers" on conference tournament runners up... Even if that is true how many of those teams are average teams that get a seed bump by getting a quality win late in the season.
MSU is a good team that can play really good defence from time to time. Ole Miss is a dumpster fire and who next? Kstate? Pitt? Gonzaga? No giant killers there. They should have won the weekend easy, and a good chance to play OSU to get to the final four. Total choke job.
9-1? Is this in DIII or do you mean opening games? Wow. Awesome. Way to beat teams you outmatch.
Congratulations on all of his first round success. More should be expected out of a team that is competitive in the B1G.
What did they all turn 80 this week? Their last game was 5 days ago.
There was a good thread a few weeks ago on this topic. I think Andy H provided some stats about how conference tournament results related to NCAA tournament performance. The record of runners up were surprisingly bad.
Sorry - I'm too lazy to look it up today and frankly don't care enough about Wisconsin to do it.
Fuzzy Dunlop or Fuzzy Math?
9-1 in his last 10 tourney games? wtf are you smoking?
five years prior to this one: 3 Sweet 16s and 2 R32 = 8-5. add in this year's early exit and you have 8-6 in his last 14 NCAAT games.

5 of last 7 Tournaments, Wiscy has eventually lost to a lower seeded team.
Basketball is way more simple than people realize. Wisconsin can't shoot consistently, especially this year. They can get by using their style of play but sooner or later when it comes to tourney style basketball you need scorers... guys that can make shots for you. They don't have em.
As an example, when they lost to MSU a few weeks ago, they shot 29% from the field and 17% from three, in the BTT final they shot 38% and 16% from three and today they shot 25% from the field and 23% from three. For the year, Wisconsin's FG% ranks 211th. Wisconsin can muck it up and wins some individiual games with grinding defense, diving and drawing fouls but sooner or later they need guys that can score consistently and other than Devin Harris a few years ago they have been too few and far between.
Seeds Bo has beaten: 9, 12, 13, 11, 11, 14, 10, 15, 14, 11, 5*, 13, 13, 5, 13, 5,
Seeds Bo has lost to: 1, 1, 3, 1, 8, 7, 10, 4, 12, 8, 1, 12
*Beat 5 seed FSU as a 12 - the ONLY time he's beaten a higher seed than his team. He's 16-12 in the NCAA Tourney - only 4 wins vs. single digit seeds, 3 5s and a 9. that is AWFUL.
