The error in thinking here is that most leagues only start one QB and two RBs. Big difference. In a two QB league, Rodgers is the #1 pick and Brees/Brady are both top 6.
Ben Jarvus Green-Ellis, Steven Jackson, Fred Jackson, whatever unknown running back breaks through this year? It's a lot easier to find decent running backs on waivers than a good QB.
There are 11 good QBs though.
And last year I found Darren Sproles in round 8 as my second running back every week. It's easier to find 2nd running backs than you think if you draft quite a few in the mid-late rounds.
Not in a league with 6 points per TD. Rodgers, Brees, and Brady were worth more than twice as much as Vick and Fitzpatrick (11th and 12th scoring wise).
I just checked results from last year.
The top 8 running backs in the draft were Peterson, Foster, Rice, Charles, Johnson, McCoy, Mendenhall and Jones-Drew. Of these 8 players, only 3 were on fantasy teams that finished top 5 in our league.
The top 5 quarterbacks in the draft were Rodgers, Vick, Brady, Brees and Rivers. Only Rivers was on a fantasy team which didn't finish in the top 5.
Fitz isn't a good qb in any league.
QB - Eli
RBs - CJ2K, Mathews, Ridley, Law Firm
WRs - Nicks, Decker, Bowe, Blackmon
TE - Graham
PK - Hennery
DE - Texans
No Cam or Stafford in the top 5 last year?
EDIT: Sorry, re-read ... top 5 in your draft. However two of them sucked (Rivers and Vick).

The great thing about fantasy football ... everyone has their own opinion.
Great team! Love your receivers, and of course Graham is huge. Mathews is a risk/reward thing, but what the heck.
He would've been the 11th highest scoring QB in the league the OP is using and that's kind of my point. You don't want to be the last one holding the bag when it comes to QB's. I tried that strategy last year and it blew up on me with Schaub.
Yeah, loved getting Mathews there. First round pick before his injury. Looks like he only will miss a few weeks at most. The back 10 weeks, I should have two first round picks at RB plus Graham.
I know that Stafford was the QB on the other team that finished in the top 5. I didn't notice Cam. But it's really not relevant to this debate, as neither were especially highly rated at the beginning of the season.
Never suggested being the last one at QB. I try to land about the 6-8 best QB. I love to target Ryan (just missed him in the draft I just did and settled with Eli). Ryan is throwing to Julio/Roddy. Eli to Nicks/Cruz. I'll take that ... especially in round 6.
You will love Graham as your tight end.
I think 5 will be the new standard going forward. I know there is talk in our league of going to 5.

what round did you get blackmon?
We've got depth. We've got numbers.
This is the year to wait on wide receivers. Lots of top talent available in the middle rounds.

Had my draft tonight. 8 man, PPR league. Got the 4th pick and ended up with..,,
QBs- M Ryan & Romo
RBs- McCoy, Sproles, S Jackson, LeShoure
WRs- AJ Green, R White, V Jackson, R Moss, P Harvin, Miles Austin
TEs- Graham & Witten
K- Mason Crosby
Pretty happy with my team and I'm the two-time defending champ. Took a flyer on Moss with my last pick and I'm wondering if I should drop him and pick up another WR or RB? Some of the WRs still available...
late picks in 8 person ppr are about grabbing players with upside because there will always be talent on the waiver wire vs. larger leagues. I'd stick with moss. Hate to say it but manningham fits that bill too.
2nd to last round (kicker last). I was a bit pissed though - had Britt ready to pick and he we t the pick before. Britt only faces one game suspension.
Drafted in the 10 spot of a 14 team league, QBs get the full 6 points for passing TDs so getting a top QB was a priority for me if I could get one:
1. (10) Matthew Stafford (Det - QB)
2. (19) DeMarco Murray (Dal - RB)
3. (38) A.J. Green (Cin - WR)
4. (47) Doug Martin (TB - RB)
5. (66) Vernon Davis (SF - TE)
6. (75) Stevie Johnson (Buf - WR)
7. (94) San Francisco (SF - DEF)
8. (103) Jacquizz Rodgers (Atl - RB)
9. (122) Robert Meachem (SD - WR)
10. (131) Justin Blackmon (Jac - WR)
11. (150) Rob Bironas (Ten - K)
12. (159) Sam Bradford (StL - QB)
13. (178) Doug Baldwin (Sea - WR)
14. (187) LaMichael James (SF - RB)
15. (206) Ed Dickson (Bal - TE)
16. (215) Russell Wilson (Sea - QB)
17. (234) Jonathan Dwyer (Pit - RB)

I won't have a Wolverine on my roster. My first year playing I had 3 scUM receivers, including Mario, on my team. Just can't do it again. That said, last year when I played in the championship, I added Blair White & Javon to my bench so they could win a championship. They did.
I like your receivers. A little thin at RB ... hope that Martin is the real deal. Dwyer is a great sneaky pick that late.
