City dumb beans
Grand Rapids is alright, you can certainly do worse. But the inhabitants are definitely a bunch of people too scared to step outside of their comfort zone.
As the inhabitants of any city are.
I would say moreso in Grand Rapids than a lot of other places. On the west side of the state, it seems like people don't really try to make friends after high school.
As a West Sider (now live in Metro Detroit unfortunatelly), this is actually true. I have make very close friends in college as well as after graduation in the Detroit area, but my friends from High School are still considered my closest.
People on the west side grow up in somewhat of a bubble. Unless they break away, some of them are really stuck in that west-side mentality - and you can't really blame then as they just don't know any better. I look forward to moving back to the GR area, but feel fortunate to have experienced other places/peple such and metro Detroit.
GR ain't shit.
Have you taken a poll of Grand Rapids and "a lot of other places" to come to that conclusion?
I'm just going to go ahead and put this here.
