Is it possible to get a GM employee discount without being a GM employee? Years ago I know you could if you simply knew a GM employee. I know on occasion GM offers an employee discount to everyone - but I don't see that offer currently.
To the best that you can negotiate the price down with the dealer...
You need to finfd out what the ee discount is and then ask them to look up a control # to use for you if they won't just give it to you for the ee price. Minimum of $500 under invoice.

Not getting much luch with the dealer just giving me an employee discount. Any GM employees here that have a discount code to share???
They can get fired for that... You're not related to any employees or retirees? You can get a supplier discount pretty easy if you ask...
And are nowhere near what they used to be

Which one are you??
i think it's bs that they advertise employee discount prices in their commercials if they aren't giving the deal to everyone.
Proves that their commercials are working: you paid attention. That's all they want.
I read the news today, oh boy .. ..
About a lucky man who made the grade
i bought a toyota.
They want you to come work for them. They'll sell u a car cheap if u do!!!
good. f the uaw.
Hope the throttle doesn't stick!
I just bought a 2012 Malibu last week using the discount. My dad is a GM Employee. Here is the website to use, but yes you need to know a GM employee. Don't even have to be related....it is good for friends as well as family members.
You can at least check it out to see what kind of discounts you can get. I originally wanted a 2012 Cruze but they must be selling real well because there was only a $250 discount. But for the Malibu I got off $6,500.......4,000 cash back and 2,500 for the employee discount. So it ended up being cheaper than the Cruze.

Not with some of the smaller cars. Some are like $250. Those are the hot cars and you probably will have a hard time getting a dealer to work with you.
Might want to marry someone with a brother or sister or in-law who works or who has worked at GM. Small price to pay.
Ended up getting a supplier discount and a good deal on an Enclave. Wife should be happy = Me should be happy
I also wonder why GM thinks it's to their advantage to advertise to the general public the discounts they give their employees. You people deal with that in the workplace. GM and its dealers should offer the best price to customers. Frankly as you brag about sweetheart deals to your employees, you lose goodwill with the public.
You're a great American.
it's the dealers who do this, not GM. they want you to take notice, but i agree that it just pisses off the 98% who aren't GM employees. i bought a ford.
Just guessing, but I think the obvious answer is that the general (uneducated) public does not know that the prices advertised are with all applicable discounts. They get you in the door by flashing a sweetheart price and then it's - ohhh, you're not in the active military? That's an extra $1000. No lease loyalty? +$1500. No GM Employee discount? 3 grand.
They just want to pique the interest of those who might be in the market.

Don't agree with this. In the past hour I've seen a Dodge truck and a GMC truck commercial from the manufacturer both advertising lease deals, along with a monthly price (and downpayment and restrictions in fine print).
Also, Ford does the same thing.
The Dodge Ram commerical that is always playing during Wings games is advertised as Chrysler Employee pricing for that 159/month. All 3 companies do the same thing.
Hello. I just saw this and was wondering if anyone can help me. I am disabled with 5 kids and I am trying to get a gm but I need the 2500 employee discount to be able to get it. Is there anyone willing to help me? Thanks in advance!!!!
No one is willing to help you.
This just smells way too much like schtick.
Anyone know how I can find an employee discount number for a deceased relative?
Is it true that federal and state employees are not eligible to use a relatives GM discount?
