@Balas_Wolverine: Gareon Conley, DB out of Ohio, officially de-committed from Michigan today, he told http://t.co/oDXbwb1U.
I'm sure they didn't want him anyway.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
I wish we could just make an official um thread, pin it, and put every post/thread about them in there.
hoke- to alter or manipulate so as to give a deceptively or superficially improved quality or value.
They have a 4* silent commit
And in one instant he goes from an incredibly underrated 3 Star recruit to a totally overrated bum who knew he wasn't ever going to see any playing time to scUM fans. In the coming days his grades will be mentioned and it will even be implied that he's got personal problems. His honor will be questioned and his character will be assaulted not just by scUM fans, but by the professional recruiting sources that are part of scUM Football.
Good for him, he saw through the garbage Hoke is pedaling.
Unless we have a shot. Don't care.
I agree with your first paragraph, but how is Hoke peddling garbage? Seems like a decent guy that has recruited well (and who got very lucky to beat us this year- damn that still pisses me off).
decent people don't skip out on the post game handshake...

They do if they're racing to the taco bar. Give the dude a break.
I think Michigan may run into some more of this. There recruiting this year was all based on that one weekend where they got what like 12 kids in 4 days. It sounds like they have not kept up them very well. I could see them losing one or two more.
You forgot "He is not a Michigan Man"
Good catch, Eggy. +1
If you're not going to take time and establish relationships with kids and make them commit before you've even sat down as a coach with their families or have had the player talk over a possible commitment with their families, then you better have a pretty damn good football program if you want to avoid second guessing or decommits. 8-5 just ain't going to cut it. I happen to like Hoke, but I don't agree at all with his recruiting approach. Dantonio's staff does it the right way and while it may take longer to secure commitments (which is often frustrating as we all can admit), in the long run he will have less decommitments than Hoke and I'll put money on that.
Funny how the Michigan posters on this board were saying back in August "we will have zero decommitments even if we go 8-4" and now they've had two in three weeks.
Tough to say. The Benenoch decommit seems like a moment where the staff was pretty negligent and broke their own rules in order to get the commit of a kid they really liked. If they start accepting more commits like that, you'll still see your share of decommits. Hoping that they learned their lesson on that one
I would argue that the staff had to work on an accelerated schedule with Benenoch because they knew the young man would want to stay near home given the opportunity (or so he had said). MSU had seen his film, knew his raw potential and knew the Texas schools would come calling, so they wanted to secure his commitment before he had several in-state offers that put MSU lower on the ladder (Texas, A&M, Baylor). The only way to do this was to act quickly.
Point being - if they didn't accept Benenoch's commitment when they did, they wouldn't have heard from him again. If it was that tough to land him when he was already committed, it would have been impossible without.
Yes. Was reading on another site that he would be taking a visit to Columbus one of the next two weekends.
Talk about an obsession thread
Rogue Leader= Obese coward who didn't attend MSU and has no college degree
He visited for the Michigan/Ohio State game. He was offered by Ohio State a little while ago, and the writing was on the wall for this kid. He stated at least a few weeks ago he was going to take visits to Ohio State and Oregon (Oregon stated if he visits they will offer, so he sort of has an offer to Oregon too). With the Michigan rule that anyone who is committed and visits other schools will have his offer revoked, it was pretty much known Conley was gone. Who knows want went down after his visit. He stated one day he was still committed to Michigan and the next he decommitted after talking to Michigan.
I think Michigan's recruiting strategy is pretty immature and selfish. They get kids in as fast as possible and pressure them to commit in order to save their spot. Once committed, Michigan states they will pull the offer if the kid visits another school. How insecure and childish is that? These are 16-18 year old kids. They are prone to quick decisions, and sometimes they need time to rethink things. If they really cared about these kids futures they would actually encourage them to visit other schools to make sure Michigan is the right place for them. They essentially treat these kids as some sort of commodity, not high school kids looking to make the best decision for their future.
Yeah and for most of these kids scum isn't some untouchable god anymore. For their entire high school/middle school careers they've seen scum lose to OSU and MSU. Hoke is relying on kids who just want to play at Michigan no matter what. But those kids are becoming harder to find.
Hopefully he keeps pushing the hard sell and keeps losing recruits because of it
Emailed my UM buddy about it..
"Yep...real pissed about a 3 star."
Cannot make this stuff up
Good luck to him.
Braylon, Mike Hart, Jake Long, Jake Ryan, Jeremey Gallon all 3 stars
Never heard of him. Not a fan.

You're not kidding. Also, I love all the posts talking about how counterproductive Hoke's recruiting strategy is. Someone remind me, what are they rated nationally in recruiting right now? Fourth? Man, I wish we shot ourselves in the foot like that.
