@MSU_Basketball: Congrats to Gary Harris (@thats_G_ ) on winning his first Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor. He averaged 18.5 ppg in two wins last week.
Well done Gary.
@MSU_Basketball: Harris joins Sam Vincent (1981) and Raymar Morgan (2006) as the only freshmen in MSU history to score in double figures in their first 3 gms

Is Harris good enough to leave after this season?
If he's consistent, I think yes
Hide yo quarterbackz, hide yo kidz, the MSU defense is here

Yep, he'll join Marcus Taylor in some d-league.

Why the hell don't I have a downvote for this moran? I used one over a week ago. WTF
Maybe, but if we land Parker, you'd have to think he'd be willing to stick around one more season and compete for a championship. Actually either way he should do that. Please.
Good enough, yes. Old enough? No.
USA over USSR in 1980 Olympic Ice Hockey
NC State over Houston in 1983 NCAA Basketball Final
Buster Douglas over Mike Tyson
Gary Harris over Mitch McGary for Big Ten Freshman of the Week Honors
Camp North Star over Camp Mohawk

1. Post good news about an MSU player
2. Have somebody on the RCMB make a douchey comment about it
4. Scrapping the program
Is that true? What date is he supposed to be 19 for the draft?
No, as long as you turn 19 during the year of the draft you can enter. He will be 19 next year in September so he would be eligible.
This is the most definitive synopsis of tRCMB to date.
May have been posted already but App was National Player of the Week last week per ESPN.
ESPN Video: Andy Katz explains how Michigan State guard Keith Appling's late-game heroics earned him Player of the Week honors.

I must be crazy to be in a loony bin like this.
Gary Harris reminds me a lot of Jrue Holiday. . . unfortunately. Holiday was an excellent HS point guard at 6'4", and was McDonalds AA a few years back. . . He played for UCLA for one year, made the transition to Div 1 ball very naturally just like Gary, and then when the draft came around Philadelphia drafted him in the first round. They both have pro-size for a guard, but don't sacrifice their speed or hops. The last time I looked Jrue was doing well for a not so good pro team. . . the 76ers, scoring in double figures and playing starting type minutes.
I think the issue will probably boil down to whether Gary wants to stay in college for another year. Jrue who is a bright guy like Gary, wasn't totally enamored with UCLA coach Ben Howland's type of game. . . slow down, set up, lots of defense. . . so when he was drafted in the first round he pulled the plug. The way Gary plays I suspect he may have that option. . . his physical skills are superior to Marcus Taylor.
It's been two damn games and we are already making comparisons and wondering if he'll go pro? It's a long season and you don't know anything about what Harris is thinking. For the sake of himself, the team and the fans, I hope he is fully invested into winning a national title. And I think he is.
What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
Minus well sticky the thread.
I have a feeling it will save some time trying to find and bump this week after week.
@joerexrode: Gary Harris is Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second time this season.
Thanks for the news. I am sure this thread will be bumped a few more times before the end of the season.
Why do you guys feel he's a 1 and done? Has he mentioned the idea since he stepped foot on campus?
Class of 2010
Great for Harris. I said earlier last week I'd like to see him shoot a higher% from 3, before the last game he was at 30% for the season. Now he's up to 39% (13/33). If we get him and trice, who is still shooting the lights out from 3, and appling going from deep that will really open things up for us. DV has been shooting it "ok" lately and teams at least have to honor that element from he and BK. We really have a lot more options from deep this year. Last year we had Green, wood and AT as people just backed off Appling.
The first time MSU basketball aired in France the French surrendered to Tom Izzo just to be safe.
