Not looking for a fight ( but funny that you tell me to STFU). Some of us believe this team can do special things. You, as always, need to be convinced. Call it a difference of opinion.
Did you see the interview with JJ, or the moment Dawson checked out and Izzo congratulated him? That was one Happy Dude. Roll with it. Izzo is.
Appling will kick all their asses and force them onto their knees and make them sook his u know what......
Its five o'clock somewhere.
Excellent point. Besides, our only depth issue right now is at the guard spot, and Valentine is a capable backup PG. But when you're just dumping the ball to Nix and Payne and Dawson is slashing to the rim and/or getting offensive boards, then you don't need to rely so heavily on guard depth anyway. Plus, Trice will be back eventually.

Appling has always been a total badass. I was ready for him to just take me last year @Wisconsin, he's so clutch and just such a badass. He's a gangster.
And Dawson is like the essence of a stereotypical Izzo player: ultra-athletic, smart D, insane rebounder, and wearing a scowl the whole time.

I just love these effers and believe they can win the whole thing. People like to point out the negatives about the team (i.e. depth). People like to point out offensive deficiencies. But I don't care. In 2000, there were issues too. That '79 team had no depth. State is on the march this year. Keith Appling may be quiet, but he IS as capable as Cleaves. He is.
MSU has the toughest team in the USA. MSU has one of the top defensive teams in the USA. Izzo's teams will rebound. That or experience an adult circumcision. These guys can slug it out and out Wisconsin Wisconsin. Or, they will run with Indiana. Take your pick. I believe. That's where I stand. I'm biased, but not stupid. MSU is on the march and the Spartan Dogs are grinding. Grinding Grinding Grinding.
I think that we'll be ok and agree with you
+1 for fierce loyalty and green kool aide
While I like all of the members of this team I really like Appling and Nix. I enjoyed watching them in HS and seeing their growth at MSU has been fun. We really need to get some more Pershing kids in the pipeline, with those 2 and Steve Smith we've done pretty well there.
Some of you guys need to study the team more carefully. Sorry but that's how I feel. These guys would chew glass and swallow it for Tom Izzo, just like Cleaves and his buddies. I love this team. Let me ask, which team can they NOT BEAT? Who can king of March Tom Izzo not beat with this tough as nails group? Who?
Sorry if I'm overboard on my praise, but God I love this team. We are living in the era of defense in East Lansing. Will Gholston, Denicos Allen, Isaiah Lewis, and the entire Spartan Basketball team. Keith Appling and Gary Harris will kill you before they concede a bucket. What goes through their mind? If someone gets through their stout perimeter, then some ugly nasty SOB behind them will break the nose of anyone trying to score.
The team is coming together and I have no doubt will be better in 4 weeks than they are right now.
Our defense is god tier. So many absolute STARS in the last few years.
Don't overstate it. Gauna, Byrd and Costello have logged increasing minutes lately, and maybe that's a good sign for them and the team. But over the B1G season, it has been a 7 man rotation really.
I like how you help others keep their excitement in check. Last Christmas, my six-year-old nephew ran up to me to show me the new Transformer he got. I said, "Enjoy it now. Eventually, you'll die and be eaten by worms." People need to stay grounded.
Our bench logged 60 minutes tonight, and that's without Trice. Purdue got 49 minutes out of their bench. Some solid defense and rebounding off the bench tonight, and Valentine is showing that he can be a point guard.
You may be going a little overboard but I still like it. Appling has to be one of my favorite Spartans in a while. Total badass and he plays the right way too... he'll sink a game winning shot and just walk to the locker room like thats what he was born to do
Love the confidence. Cant say I am as confident that they will win it all, but I like our chances as much as any team. The difference is Payne's new found offensive game and App hitting the J. I thought before the season, reading all the articles about the work he put in, that if he is hitting from distance, MSU is as good as any team out there. If not better
Unfortunately I don't have cable TV and have missed too many MSU BBall games, so I have a question for the experts...
If we're hinting at a NC contender - I look at MSU's last two NC's and see Earvin Johnson and Mateen Cleaves. Does MSU have "that guy" who will take this team on their back and win it? Is it Appling? Can he do that?
How many minutes do you really expect the 3rd and 4th big men on the depth chart to contribute over the course of the B1G season? Gauna and Costello have stepped up big when they're needed due to foul trouble or injuries, but do you really want them to be spending more than 6-7 minutes on the court when Nix and Payne are kicking as much ass as they are? The same goes for Byrd. He's really gotten his defensive game under control, and he's capable of coming in without hurting the team too much, but why the hell would you want him out there if Dawson and Harris aren't injured or in foul trouble?
Izzo has essentially been running a 7 man rotation this year, but that doesn't mean the team doesn't go 10 deep. It's not the same thing. You put your best players on the court, even if you have solid role players on the bench.
It may be a seven man rotation, but the versatility of Harris and Valentine make it deeper than that really. Valentine can at 4 positions and Harris 3.
I read all the spartan dawg posts in DMX' voice and growled and barked after every one. There are no unbeatable teams in hoops this year (think UK last year, UNC in 05 or 09) this year is more like 2010 or 2011. We have as good of a chance as anyone.
The exchange between Ernie and Duffie reminds me of this.
It's a true 8 man rotation if Trice is healthy. And 7-8 guys is par for the course around the country.
It's just a shame no other team has any flaws, issues, concerns, etc. We are the only one.

I too love this team more than any in a long time and mostly because of the toughness they exude. Example, that entire arena focused not on cheering their team, but on hating Dawson. So, how did he respond? He dropped 20 and led the winning team in scoring. The tougher the situation gets, the better this team gets. Love that.
