For his pregame snack, Keith Appling chews on lightbulbs.
Its five o'clock somewhere.
National Championship caliber team here folks. Right on schedule, like clockwork. Izzo has the team peaking down the stretch. Damn I love these guys.
um had NO answer for anything we did. And we didn't count on any one thing or player to win, it was a team effort. Heck, Payne had a quiet game, and he had the biggest mismatch- Nix was just eating their best post defender alive that badly.
And this was the best defensive effort I've seen in a long time. Hedging on screens, taking aay shots, talking on switches, recognizing sets, etc.
Izzo is a GOD. He should be pope.
What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
If MSU plays lock down defense like they did tonight they can beat anybody.
If we lose at Ohio State, we'll be seeing predictions of a first round tournament exit. This board is bipolar.
Believe now ?
You watcha you mouth.
Thank you, Denicos.
I felt Michigan was walking into a storm tonight and if I had to predict how I felt the game was going to go it would of been this: a massive beatdown which is exactly what occured. I still think depth is an issue though.
I buy into bleeding Spartan green and Tom Izzo. This team is special, you should try to enjoy it instead of looking for reasons not to.
You think every season is special. You see Tom get in that walk ons face at the end of the game? He doesn't take anything for granted.
I was going to start a stand-alone post on playing the walk-ons. This is one of my favorite "victory cigar" moments of MSU games. Watching the walk-ons run all over while the starters are all smiles and high-fiving on the bench. You also notice the starters really rooting for the walk-ons to make some shots.
Loved Dakich's statement on the walk-ons-- "If I'm a walk-on, I'm shooting!"
Dude, just give it a fucking rest. The Spartans have come together to become a very special team having a very good year, and they're still improving. What am I "taking for granted" by acknowledging and enjoying that reality?
Yeah, because Tom Izzo yelling at a walk-on is the same thing as fans on a messge board getting excited about an improving top ten team and thinking they can win it all.
Michigan State hasn't played defense like this since Cleaves left. Call me crazy I don't care. This is the best MSU team since 2000. The record backs it up. Izzo has them coming together. We are only just beginning to see what they can do.
There is enough depth (Valentine is raising his game to meet the challenge). There is enough perimeter shooting. There is enough inside play. There is enough rebounding. And then there is that Michigan State tornado style defense. Lock down, get after it, azz kicking defense. Best in the nation, and the HELL with Miami. All Miami saw this year was a half-hearted, lackluster performance out of our Spartans, with a just-returning Gary Harris. MSU plays Miami in March, Izzo the genius will have these guys ready.
Appling was talking serious trash. I love that stuff. That's a tough kid. And he knows he can play with anyone on the college level. Nothing that can be repeated on a live chat. But he was in Burke's ear and McGary at least once, too.
After a turnover from GR3 I believe you could see him bump in to him mid court and you could definitely see App talking shit to him. Robinson looked terrified.
This is the poster to blame for this.
Might help us remember what's to like.
