Who have they played? Little sister of the blind west coast? Lost to Overrated Butler.
VargMan just broke a bunch of stuff and punched a lot of holes in a lot of walls out of anger.
Who cares the rankings don't mean anything in basketball, let them have their moment.
A top 70 schedule is nothing to sniff at. Is it the best schedule ever? No.. but they did beat Oklahoma State, K-State, Oklahoma and Davidson. Potentially will beat St. Mary's three times and they're probably going to be an NCAA Tournament team.
I doubt the zags will take the top spot next week. We have already seen IU lose to Illinois while ranked 1st and not fall the next week. I think that may happen again.
So they played like 1/5th of a Big twelve schedule. The third or fourth Conference in the country. Wcc is bad as is the rest of CBB outside of Acc B1G and a couple teams around the country. Not to mention Olynik is the ugliest mofo to ever step on the hardwood. They will probably be #1 till the tourney.
And besides us they have a hell of a time getting anybody worth a deuce to play them in Spokane.
I don't think they've earned the top ranking, but it's not entirely their fault.

I know Lunardi said before the game tonight that Indiana could lose tonight and not be bumped out of a #1 seed.
Better chance of Duke taking over if they beat Miami.
They don't have the luxury of facing a top 10 team on the road and beating them 3 days later this time though. They are dropping.

Because teams lost behind them that same week. IU lost to a team that was a double digit seed in the tournament before tonight. Not like they fell on the road to a Top 10 foe. They'll drop from #1.
Much more likely that the voters swing to Duke if they beat Miami this weekend. Some will definitely be hesitant to give their votes to Gonzaga and will go with Duke instead. Can't see Indiana staying #1.
It would be hilarious if the Zags were ranked #1 by default at the end of the regular season, then don't get a 1 seed I really don't think the committee will want to give them a 1 seed
if Duke wins @UVA and against Miami I'd vote them #1. If not I'd still probably vote Indiana.
Was talking about St. Mary's..
Ahhhhh. I read that sentence from a different perspective. I gotcha now, man.
That's just turrible.
It is entirely their fault. Had they beaten Illinois and Butler, there wouldn't be this much controversy over it. Their resume is bullshit. Everyone else in the top-10 has a better collection of wins. They had a chance to show they were the real deal, blew it, and will be rewarded anyway, Thank God this isn't football and these frauds will actually be exposed on the floor.
Not Florida, but other than that yeah. They schedule as tough as they can in the non-con. After that it's pretty much out of their hands. The WCC is about the best league they can be in given the size of their school/lack of football.
The last two months you could say "they had a chance to show they were the real deal and blew it" about several teams.

Horrible argument. Can't stand when people think simply b/c you haven't played a tough schedule then you aren't worthy of a good ranking. Ridikilus
They will still be a #4 seed regardless
People say it because they recruit at a low level, have less resources to spend on coaching and facilities, and have only beaten a few good teams and lost against some mediocre teams. Why are they worthy of the ranking?
You listed 4 (tho not all strong) counterpoints to them being #1. The lone argument of "they haven't played anyone" is the argument that gets my panties in a bunch.
The best team in the country can play a slate of patsies, and still be the best.
People would still be complaining even if they had won those games, including me. And this is Illinois, which beat Indiana and Butler, which is a year removed from back-to-back trips to the finals. Not to mention a demolition of Kansas State.
Anyway, the point isn't that I think they deserve to be number 1, it's that they couldn't get enough home-and-homes with good teams to justify the ranking, even assuming they wanted to. Thanks very much.
