even when he is 70
Freddie Mercury has to be in the mix. Incredible range, unique sound. My personal favorite would be Robert Plant. He's just too fricken cool. My wife would vote for Neil Young, who I also like because he has such a cool sound. If you like Neil Young, you might like this.
Its five o'clock somewhere.
In my humble opinion, you just listed the greatest voice (Mercury) and frontman (Plant) in rock history.
Don't get me wrong freddie had a unique voice and some Zepplin is the best ever but how could u go see this?

I can't hear his voice in this picture.
If you can't deal with that then you don't understand Queen.
He sure was hairy. Great voice though.
Really? Are you so insecure with yourself that you can't stand the sight of a shirtless man?
Freddie is one of the greatest voices and frontmen of all time, not to mention Queen was amazing overall. I wouldn't care if Freddie was butt ass naked, if I could see a live Queen performance right now I would take that chance in heartbeat.

It's awful. That's you and that's fine.
If you like preening rock stars more power to you - I think its pompous garbage as was most of Queens music.
I'm sure you would be fine seeing him naked - to me - put a friggin shirt on - same category as Paul Stanley.
No I don't understand Queen, Boston Foreigner or any of that drivel.
You can't tell me that you listen to Queen can you?
Dude, it's the "best voice" thread. Nothing you're saying is relevant.
Ah, so you admit that you're insecure and homophobic, good to know.
Back in the 1970's and early 1980's the live version of "Rhiannon" was very up-tempo compared to the record. Stevie did a great job with it back then. It seemed like with her it really depended on the song, and the condition of her voice at the time. I agree with you about "Dreams" or "The Chain". However, I never liked how she did the background vocals on "Go Your Own Way" during live shows. I feel the same way about some other songs with Stevie.
What is it that you listen to?
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.
No idea Gretchen had pipes like that
Ann had such a good voice - Too bad people couldn't get over the weight issue
Its gotta be Bonovox. Him or Steve Perry.
I see Michigan State as a destination, not a stop.~Mark Dantonio
A few more further back in the pack:
Elaine 'Spanky' McFarland
Justin Hayward [Moody Blues]

Found that cover maybe 6 months ago. So perfect I was skeptical it might have been lip-synced. Still am but have found nothing to disprove the performance.
Here's acoustic Gretchen. She definitely has the pipes
amazing...stunning. noone takes on Heart songs because noone can sing as strong as Wilson, but Gretchen did and it's incredible. Enjoy.
A lot of lead vocals have to be considered with the context and totality of the song and music. Dylan is not thought to have a great voice at all, but can you imagine anyone else signing some of those songs? It was his style that made his music and his songwriting ability.
All that considered, the thread could have ended after someone mentioned "The Golden God", Robert Plant. A lot of other greats, but he is the epitomy of rock. He could hit any note and had the ability to cover any genre.
Yeah- Ray Orbrinsen,
Bruce Springsteen & Levon Helm. Maybe not the smoothest of voices, but entirely awesome.
Exactly, who I was looking for. Awesome rock voice.
