So after previously having struck out with the sales department at HGI (company that does all of the sweet alternate helmet), I tried going directly to their company president. Below is the e-mail response I got. Apparently the university won't give them licensing rights to sell them...yet. I'm not overly optimistic considering the ONLY helmets for sale on their site are the ones they do for Oregon. My only hope is that some day they end up on MSU auctions or something like that. The players didn't get to keep them, so eBay isn't an option.
I know they didn't look good with the uniforms, AND we lost in a heart-breaker...but they're still part of our history and I want one.
I would LOVE to make a helmet for you and honestly, it is not about the money. Right now they are not being offered and I could get into a lot of trouble for selling one.
I will tell you that I am actively working on having these available as well as cell phone cases as soon as possible. Hopefully we will be able to have these for available within the next month or so. I will save your email but if you don't hear from me in the next month, please feel free to contact me again.
Thank you for your patience,
Chris W. Thom

I liked them Although, that's probably more because of the helmet-gate madness than the helmets themselves
Cell phone cases would be sweet. Thanks for posting.
That's chump change for ballers like us Goodbar...
I brush my teeth with grounded Benjamins. They have a minty flavor.
I'll buy a frooty little Iphone just to have the case if they make one.
If the players didn't even get to keep them, then where did they go?
If they make an iPhone 5 case, Id throw down some money for that. Balla time
FYI just looked it up, and it looks like the Oregon phone cases were all $40
According to MLeagueGreen they are all locked up in storage at Duffy Daugherty and are individually micro-chipped. MSU apparently paid like well over $100,000 for them in total...so why they're just sitting on them is beyond me.
If they aren't going to use them again, they could make their money back by selling them. Then again, that would make too much sense.
There's a time and a place for everything and it's called college.
My guess is that if they are sitting on them, then they plan on using them again. If you remember with the PC unis, players got to keep everything because they didn't plan on using them again. I would also guess that someday they will become available for auction somewhere and if you are willing to pay the money, you can probably get one. JMO
I suspect they may break them out again, maybe for a home game...
Nίκη για MSU
Thats a great way to blow 100k.
Now back to that "its to expensive to even paint Spartan Stadiume right now, give us more money" bit
But the scenario Agis laid out about them being in storage at Duffy tells me they absolutely plan on using them again. With how much MSU paid for these to be done, I'm not sure how big the market would be for them if they decided to put them on the market. I wouldn't be shocked if they charged 2-3k for one (if they did get put on the market)
I also contacted people from HGI before Xmas and got a similar response. I want the cell phone case badly after seeing the ones they did for Oregon. They just came out with the Texas A&M case so hopefully they'll be coming out with more schools soon.
Damn, I was hoping that a Riddell mini helmet would work its way out there for the public soon.
I guess if MSU is holding onto the rights, that will not be happening.
Same response I received about the helmets and iPhone case. At least HGi is consistent. Fingers still crossed!
I don't want anything to do with that helmet until we wear it again and beat Michigan in them.

Do want the iPhone case, sick
Agreed. Hopefully that will be available soon. They've already made them for Oregon, A&M and Notre Dame.
I mean $1200.00 is allot of money regardless. I still want a helmet but I don't see anywhere on the website that you have to supply the helmet to HGI. I put an oregon helmet in the cart and it was still $1199. The price would have to come down if Riddell put in a huge order, after licensing was permitted. Oregon hydro fx helmets are being sold for $500.00 on Riddell's site. I know that their completely different helmets chrome vs fx, but I think that the $1200 price tag is for a limited run of helmets. Let's face it how many people have $1200.00 helmets sitting on their shelves at home. Not that many people are probably ordering helmets so they are made in smaller quantities thus the higher price tag. If you wait until Christmas and use a discount code on Riddells site even cheaper. In time I'm sure the price will come down.
Hey, I found out where you can get that exact helmet. Here is a picture.
I would do bad, bad things for an iPhone case.
"If you're worried about Wolverine fans, just move to Pasadena. You'll never have to deal with 'em."
Hoping they offer the Pro Combat model case and the model from this year's helmet, but I'd take this year's model on a case skin in an instant if that's the only one offered for MSU.
