I dunno. I'd say two years ago was the best recently, last years was questionable and this year is on par with last years.
That's pretty much exactly what I said.
This year: haven't had it yet.
Last year: not bad, but not great.
Two years ago: GREAT
Three years ago: BAD
Sorry. Reading comprehension fail on my part.
"Construction of the eight story building on the corner of Grove and Albert is right on schedule. Barring unforeseen delays, HopCat - East Lansing should be open in mid-August before fall semester begins. 100 taps of craft beer! (Note: we'll begin taking employment applications about a month from now in early July.)
Here's a view from the eighth floor. Note the stadium and scoreboard in the background. People sitting in the upper seats at a football game should be able to see our large 9'x9' HopCat logo on the crown of the building just above the eighth floor. Which is kinda cool to us."

I love EL
Every time I'm in GR I have to hit HopCat. So excited to see them coming to E.L.
You're in college. The window of opportunity to drink and do drugs and take advantage of young girls is getting smaller by the day.
Wait, you can see the crown of the building from the football field? That is some BS! How are you supposed to be able to play football in those conditions?!?!

First...so glad Hopcat is coming to EL. Will be a great stop when we are in town.
Second, I just thought someone should mention that Oberon has no orange extract or orange of any kind added to it unless you are dropping your own orange slice in.
What's your source on this? I know people who work for Kalsec who produce the orange extract for them, at least they did a few years ago I haven't asked recently. They also provide all their pre and post production beer sensory analysis in house for the batching.
You sound like some kind of beer expert......
"Come and take them"
Waiting for his response to find out he's not, haha.
Any news on this? I'm thinking about hitting this spot for the first hour or 2 of WMU tailgate, will it be open by then?
They leased the apartments out for the fall so the building has to be done
I thought I read somewhere recently they were going to be starting interviews and hiring staff with hopes of opening in mid August.

From their facebook page:
"Attention prospective HopCat - East Lansing job applicants: We're planning to open for business in mid-August and we need lots of employees! We'll be doing open interviews Wednesday and Thursday this week. The location will be:
219 S. Harrison Rd.
East Lansing, MI 48823
Wednesday July 17th 11am-6pm
Thursday Thursday July 18th 11am-6pm
We're looking for:
Kitchen - Line cooks, prep cooks, dishwashers
Front of house - Bartenders, servers, barbacks, bussers, hosts/hostesses
Servers and bartenders must have a minimum of THREE years experience working the front of house in a busy food service establishment. Please bring two copies of your resume and plan for 45-60 minutes for the entire interview process, including filling out an application.
Attire: Please dress casually. Just be yourself. You can do some research on HopCat by Googling us.
We look forward to meeting you! (Please "share" this post with anyone you think might be interested in working at HopCat)."
Drove by it today... the building looks nowhere near finished. I'd be very surprised if it's open by the first football game.
The Hop Cat side of the development is funded and on schedule. The Pepinos side is behind schedule and may not make it for opening day.
I think my liver just cringed!!! Great googiliy moogily!!! How the hell did I miss this announcement?!?
Looks like I have a new "must visit" spot whenever I am back on campus...
Are they still claiming August for the opening?
Saw it last night, and it would take a miracle. I hope so, though.
Dominating Press Conferences Since 2007
I'm thinking the same thing. Looks nowhere near ready. They keep saying on their Facebook page that they'll be open in three weeks.
haven't you ever seen Restaurant: Impossible?
"bzzzzzzbzbzbzbbBZZbbzbzbzz" - bees
Yeah they can flip an entire restaurant in like 12 hours.
A man's gotta eat!
They are in the same development? I thought Peppinos was in the building where The Post used to be and Hop Cat was in the one next door on the corner, two different buildings and developments. I haven't been back in EL since the winter though so it's been a while.
Two separate developments, side by side buildings.
