Hey y'all, I was hoping you guys could offer some advice on places to live in East Lansing as I'm moving there this fall from TN to start graduate school. Any particular part of town or apartment building that you think would be a nice, quiet place for a graduate student to live? Any other general advice about living in East Lansing? Excited to get started this fall.
Cedar Village is nice if you want a quiet place to study.
The closer you are to campus the louder it will be. Look for an apt complex right off a main bus route so you don't have to drive into town. Look at some of the apartment complex's near Meijer on Lake Lansing Rd. as well as some of the apartments at the north end of Hagadorn. It really also depends on what your budget is and if you are going to have a roommate.

Thanks. I'm looking for single bedroom apartment, my max budget is about $950. I've done some looking online and found some that fit but it's hard to tell what the noise level would be online haha.
How close do you want to be to campus? Do want to walk to campus? Drive?
Have you looked at renting a house with someone?
Oh by the way, LadyVols Rowing is taking on O$U and um in Columbus today. Go LadyVols.
If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day.
have fun with DTN, they are the largest property management company in the area, and I'm sure 95% of their residents could share a horror story about them.
Go Bears, Blackhawks, White Sox, and Pioneers.
Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand
You can find a real nice place for $950. I'm paying less than $600 for a little 1-bedroom out in Okemos.

This... $950 will go a long way in mid-Michigan. You might look at Knob Hill in Okemos, or any of the complexes along Marsh Road in Haslett.
What program will you be in? That will likely dictate which part of campus you'll be in most often, and which places would be decent walking distance.
I'm in Engineering and I plan on driving to campus so if I'm not too close that's okay. I think I'm going to start off living by myself, I had a bad experience with renting with someone I didn't really know.
Then look in Okemos or Haslett. Much quieter out there
