This post amuses me.
Draymond Green, Magic Johnson, and Oscar Robertson are the only players to have two triple-doubles in the NCAA Tournament.
This is such a self loathing take on the game that lacks any semblance of objectivity. The fact that he has to throw out the strawman (michigan game) just proves that he is trolling.
Bottom line is that MSU in March is a well oiled machine and MSU beats this Memphis team 10 times out of 10...100 times out of 100. Izzo is a better coach and Pastner would never be able to implement any structure whatsoever at a moments notice.
There are a bunch of ignorant and ill-informed MSU fans that thought that MSU was in for a world of hurt when they saw Memphis as the 6 seed...there are a few well informed MSU fans that knew from the beginning that Memphis was the 6 seed in the tournament that we matched up with best.
As many of us noted before the game, MSU neutralized their biggest advantage, athletisism. When you win most games by simply being more athletic and that advantage no longer exists, what do you do?? Run good sets...nope. Use your size inside and pound it...nope.
If it makes you feel better we would have beaten Butler soundly as well. A six seed is a fringe top 25 team. We should handle them on a neutral court in march.
"If they were hitting their shots"
Cracks me up every time. Love how Memphis can win 20 in a row, then they lose to a bigger, stronger, smarter, more skilled team and it's because they weren't "hitting their shots." Last I checked, making your shots is a pretty essential part of the game. No, they did not miss "many" open looks. They had very few open looks, and they did miss those, but how much of our physical and mental strain on them had to do with that? When the other team is clamping down on you, it's hard to get into the flow of the game, and something as easy as open jumpers becomes hard. You start to get tired and you start to lose confidence. It's called cause and effect. They didn't just randomly have a bad shooting day.
And I'm not just looking at one game. Look at the good teams they played outside of their pitiful conference -- VCU, Minny, Louisville, Xavier -- they lost to all of them.
If you think Memphis was anything other than a terribly overrated and low IQ basketball team you are a fool.

"RCMB: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainry." - some dude from MgoBlog
Conference USA is really mediocre. They need to be in a conference with some of the other quality mid major teams. They need to be in the A-10 or something like that.
Posting member of tRCMB since 1997.
It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
Mediocre would be an improvement for C-USA.
