No. Name the only one who has looked shitty against shitty competition. That would be Notre Dame. There's your separation.
The RCMB...is one of the most awful, alarming, inappropriate, disgusting, and offensive msg boards in the history of the internet.
Here's the thing: What does the playoff prove? Nothing. LSU beat Bama @ Bama last year and then got rolled in the NC game. To me part of the beauty in college football is that there's so much room for discussion. There are endless debates about whether Team X is better than Team Y, that Team A beat Team B, who rolled Team C, who beat Team A. I don't really think the playoff will solve anything. Last year people still claimed that the Packers were the best team in the NFL even though the Giants destroyed them in the playoffs.

Polls will be completely irrelevant in 2 years with a selection committee coming.
ND will get beat by USC
Beavers may beat Duck, I know they will be gettin at least 14 and that will be a free payday.
Well, MSU, UM and Miami(Fl) all look like bowl teams and they did beat Stanford and Oklahoma. Who else has a great resume?
KSU finishes with (currently) #15 Texas (coaches), while ND finishes with #21 USC.
Both beat Oklahoma. Both smoked Miami(FL)
Outside of that, current ranked Ws:
ND: #13 Stanford, #23 Michigan
KSU: #24 OK State and #25 Texas Tech.
If USC loses to UCLA and Texas beats TCU, K-State will have a chance at a decisive victory and should put them over the top.
However, I think both squads are capable of losing to their final opponents as well. I think Oregon is the only likely team to see the 12-0 at this point, but a Pac-12 CCG vs. UCLA may not be as certain a W as you'd think.
BTW, if UGA beats Bama in the SEC championship game, I could see them leap-frogging either KSU or ND.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
Name the only one that you and many other people have an irrational hatred toward. That's your separation.
If the coming playoff structure was in place last year, Bama would have at least had to have beaten Oklahoma State or Oregon/Stanford to earn a rematch with LSU. As it was, LSU had to play an extra game (SEC championship), then play Bama again, while Bama got a pass to the title game despite losing the regular season matchup. A semifinal would make it seem like the final two teams earned their place, regardless of the result of a regular season matchup.
So if the qualification for earning spot in the title is having an incredible regular season and beating a Top 4 team in the semifinals, the playoff proves a lot.
i couldnt agree more.
'Bama was clowned last year at home with the best talent the the Nation. No way you deserve to play for the title after losing at home. They got a rematch which gave them the inherit advantage.
Once again they were beat at home this year FWIW.
You have to win all your games then match up, win all your home game then match up.
playoffs are for idiots and to make a buck.
People are fuckin ignorant and need a title game to tell them who the best team is. the dumbing down of society correlates with a push to have a playoff, for the idiots.
In CFB winning your league is, or was, priority one & all else is fun and icing on the cake.
Way to dodge the issue. Neither KSU nor Oregon have anything close to the shitty performances ND has had against teams like Purdue, Pitt and BYU. Those games were all at home too.
Hell, the Pitt game went 3 OT. When you are comparing undefeated teams, these things matter. It isn't irrational to say that ND has looked shitty against shitty competition. It's just fact.

what make college football unique and different from all other sports are the rivalry games.
ND has a a shit ton of these. If you dont think that makes a difference ask the players. BC played their best game of the year, as they usually do, against ND.
cant measure that in polls, hence why they are stupid.
In CFB emotion>talent
This is the sort of thinking that sends Wisconsin to the Rose Bowl because they rolled up 70 points on Indiana.
Rivalry games. Really made a difference in the KSU/KU game. KSU won by 40.
National championship caliber teams blast shitty teams, rivalry or not.
If you want to bitch about the system, go ahead. Nobody is going to argue with you there. But under the system we have to determine a NC, style points and ND has played like crap against very inferior teams. Oregon and KSU have not.
It just sucks that they could not do it this year.
As much as I'd like to see the Beavs beat the Ducks, I don't know... Their defense is a bend don't break type like Iowa's in 2009, but I don't know how it would fare against Oregon, who plays to get their games out of reach out of halftime (Oregon State seems to be a second half team). On paper, it seems the best bet to upset Oregon would be Stanford, but their defense looks a little slow (like Wisconsin's).
If all 3 remain unbeaten ND is going to be on the outside looking in They no longer hold the sway that they had in past. Everything is working against them. They only recieved 1 first place vote in each of the coaches and AP polls. No one is impressed. I hope we do get an Oregon- K St game. That will end the SEC streak, keep ND out of the picture, and make for some very very good BCS bowl matchups in the other 4 games. (FSU, ND, Bama, Neb, Georgia, Okla, Florida, Clemson all in the picture} Unfortunately someone has to represent the Big East.
While I agree it absolutely should have been LSU - Okie St, I wouldn't use clowned. It was 9-6, in OT.
What I have a problem with is Bama being crowned champion AFTER the NCG. I still think LSU deserved it (the AP title), given that the series split went to LSU for winning on the road, one extra win, and a plethora of better wins than Bama.
And Honey badger.
I know, i actually though CAL could reign in the Ducks scoring last night and that was a failure.
The best way to take on the Duck is to make then pass to the 2-3 yd check down. Dont pressure them or allow the quick strike. Make the O go 10-15 plays for every score.
Teams, weak teams, get impatient and that make it worse i think
College Football strength of schedule power rating page.
So how valuable is a rivalry game in the court of public opinion when 10 of Notre Dame's 12 games are allegedly "rivalry games".
One could just as easily claim Kansas State-Iowa State as a rivalry game just as easily as one claims ND-Michigan or ND-Pitt. Oregon's had no problem looking impressive against their rivals.
Sorry, but to claim one 2-8 team is playing hard against ND while another 3-7 team isn't playing hard against Oregon can't be proven and is just flatout bullshit.
As much as I hate ND, no way in hell they will ever be denied if undefeated. Shit, if the BCS had it's way, ND would be playing in the natty championship with 6 losses.
Defense wins championships and ND is currently #1 in points allowed and top 10 in nearly every other Defensive category. I'd take ND's D over Oregon or K St. offense. ND has shut 5 teams out of the endzone this year, that's impressive and it doesn't get the play it deserves from the likes of ESPN.
Also, ND is the only of the three not to play a FCS football team, IMO the other two should be 9-0
ND also went to 3OT with Pitt who lost to a FCS team.
