Got home around 11:30AM and westbound traffic was completely stopped with about ~20 police cars. Guess someone jumped.
That would be some of the scariest shit in the world... being on the road as it happened. Nuts.
I heard the last thing that went through his mind was his ass.
****ing people. I don't care what people want to do with their own lives but to involve innocent bystanders or to do something like that in such a public place is terrible.

Isnt that the exact same spot someone did it like 2 years ago??
Yeah people jump off that bridge all the time. I grew up in Warren and it seemed like every year someone jumped off that bridge.
I seem to remember it being a dude with a rifle, but I may be wrong.
Van Dyke? I remember someone taking a header off one of the 696-Mound ramps about 10 years ago
You could be right, The stretch between Van Dyke, Mound and Ryan for some reason gets a lot of jumpers.
All of these assault bridges should be closed. If only one life can be saved, it should be done.
Question authority. Power to the people
if i recall correctly, in my junior year of HS (2006) a kid from a nearby school jumped off one of the 696 overpasses after he shot and killed someone in a drug deal gone bad. i felt bad for the families and loved ones left behind by both people, but seriously, fuck the kid who jumped. just shoot yourself, don't put other people's lives at risk.

"bzzzzzzzzzzz bzbzbzbbzbz" - bees
Yeah it was Mound about 10 years ago. My wife was one of the first cars stopped in front of body. Still freaks her out to this day.
I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend.
they can't put fences up?????
I think the kid was from my old HS, Warren Mott. Bur I am a few years older then you.
This would be even scarier. There used to be a pic online years ago but I can't find it now.
What year did you graduate from Mott DMB?
yep, there were a bunch of people from mott in my a/v class who knew him, it was bizarre
1998. 15 years ago!
Are you Cousino or Sterling?
Happened less than a 1/4 mile from where I worked, directly adjacent to the tracks. Everyone was wondering why the freight cars suddenly stopped next to the building. Heard reports of what happened and went to the Bunert bridge for lunch. Tanker car on its side across the west bound lanes of 696. IIRC there was another car hanging sideways off the overpass on the east bound side. Truly amazing no one was killed or injured.
Went back to work after lunchtime. A detective from the Warren police department showed up not long later telling us to evacuate the building because they were not sure what was in the damaged tanker cars.
Maybe it is due to the rate of poverty and criminals that live in that area???
