Marian Catholic junior Tyler Ulis said it was his worst shooting game of the season.
Brother Rice coach Pat Richardson called Ulis a tougher player to defend than a couple of guys named Rose and Wade.
With Michigan State coach Tom Izzo on hand, the 5-foot-8 Ulis put together another dazzler Tuesday night, scoring 25 points and beating the buzzer with a turnaround from inside the dotted line as No. 11 Marian Catholic survived No. 13 Brother Rice's furious late rally to record a 69-67 victory in Chicago Heights.

Thank you, Denicos.
@SwagAir: Word on the street is MSU head coach Tom Izzo is at Marian Catholic watching 5'8 PG phenom Tyler Ullis - love his game! They better offer...
5'8? Wheres the rest of him?
Is that worthy of caps lock?
Is he better than Aquille Carr?
I was more worried about the blatant overuse of exclamation points. They are not an unlimited resource, people.
laconophilia is everywhere...
Marian beat Brother Rice, funny.
5-foot-8? Maybe Izzo is recruiting him for if tRCMB 5 on 5 tournament ever comes back.
Kid is originally from Southfield, Mich.
Travis Walton is his cousin.
hoke- to alter or manipulate so as to give a deceptively or superficially improved quality or value.
Who says Izzo doesn't recruit nationally? Get some!
Hey I want to Brother Rice in Chicago. That's...actually not very interesting in retrospect.
It had been a wonderful evening and what I needed now, to give it the perfect ending, was a little of the Ludwig Van.
So did I.
The RCMB...is one of the most awful, alarming, inappropriate, disgusting, and offensive msg boards in the history of the internet.
Rice cannot even beat a bunch of girls. Pathetic.
5'8? Hell, maybe I have a shot to walk on next year after all.
5-7 Maurice Jones was pretty solid.
is 5-8 his real height or his fake height?
tig ol bitties is my real name. probably banned for something stupid. F t R
Actually I was thinking that Marian "beat" Rice. Which they commonly do.
Tyler is one of the smartest guards for the class 2014. He is also one of the smallest and toughest his ability to see the floor and knock down jumpers moved him up to MeanStreets 17U to compete with the big boys as a sophomore. Watch for this guy he has a big future...
dirty old bastard
Everyone over 6-0 wants to be a SG now a days, I like the idea of a pure ball handler that knows his job is to distribute and more importantly wants to distribute.
If he can be a Korie Lucious that takes less shots I'd be happy to have him.
Love the Hawkeye in the comments calling for him to go to Iowa.
Can anyone tell me what was the last team to win a national championship with a starting PG that small?
Draymond Green, Magic Johnson, and Oscar Robertson are the only players to have two triple-doubles in the NCAA Tournament.
