A lot of dogs are better soules than a lot of people..
I'm just saying..
There is romance in all of us
The ending of a dog's prayer:
And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest...and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.
Damn thing gets me every time. There is nothing better than the unconditional love of a canine companion. She was lucky to have you for as long as she did, and you her. Best wishes today Cosmo.

Thanks again everybody.
Four hours until I still crying like a big wuss. Hell, I've been tearing up off and on for two whole days. I tried to feed her some of her favorite canned food today -- a last supper if you will -- and she sniffed it for a second then just lied back down. I guess it's fitting in a way, although I wish she would eat one more time before she hangs out with all the other dogs in doggy heaven.
Sometimes the right thing to do is the hardest thing.
What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
hang in there. You'll feel her around even after. You're doing the right thing.
RIP to da dog
Thinking of you, Cosmo. Take it easy. For one, you've had a lot of good years with her. For two, you're giving her what she needs when she can't do it for herself, even when it hurts you badly. That's what parents do, and you're a good one.

Thank you, Denicos.
I really need to stop opening this thread
My office must be awfully dusty today.
Patches is now sleeping in peace after a painless shot. Her pain is all over with and im happy with that. I lost it when they put the shot in and haven't stopped crying since.
Thanks again everyone.
Thanks again everyone.
You're a good man Cosmo.
This too shall pass. Keep your head up.
We've got 2 dogs about 7 years each and I can't even fathom how to handle a situation like this if it came about.

RIP Patches. Hang in there Cosmo, good thoughts for you.
It will pass, but don't rush it...embrace this feeling. This pain is the best kind of pain any human can ever experience. It is the pain of pure and unconditional love. Squeeze every ounce of emotion as you can out of this experience...because when you are able to bring another dog into your life, this pain that you are feeling now will resurface in the form of extreme joy as you cultivate and nourish that new relationship.
That's a very good sentiment. I've never thought of it that way. Thank you for your veteran young guy experience
Not trying to hijack or anything but I had to do this today as well. I knew it was coming for a while but.... R.I.P Zeke. You were truly man's best friend.

Is that your fleshlight on the table?
Lol....That pic was taken over at my Dad's house. Not really sure what that is but I can assure you that is not what it is,
There is sorrow enough in the natural way From men and women to fill our day; But when we are certain of sorrow in store, Why do we always arrange for more? Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.
Buy a pup and your money will buy Love unflinching that cannot lie-- Perfect passion and worship fed By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head. Nevertheless it is hardly fair To risk your heart for a dog to tear.
When the fourteen years which Nature permits Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits, And the vet's unspoken prescription runs To lethal chambers or loaded guns, Then you will find--it's your own affair But . . . you've given your heart to a dog to tear.
When the body that lived at your single will When the whimper of welcome is stilled (how still!) When the spirit that answered your every mood Is gone wherever it goes--for good, You will discover how much you care, And will give your heart to a dog to tear!
We've sorrow enough in the natural way, When it comes to burying Christian clay. Our loves are not given, but only lent, At compound interest of cent per cent. Though it is not always the case, I believe, That the longer we've kept 'em, the more do we grieve: For, when debts are payable, right or wrong, A short-time loan is as bad as a long So why in Heaven (before we are there!) Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?
Wow... That was emotional.
Ain't that the truth...
Sorry for your loss, Cosmo. You did the right thing
Been a bad week for dogs here. RIP Patches and Zeke. Sorry for your losses Cosmo and greenbay.
On an up note for dogs on the board we got a cute little King Cavalier puppy to go along with our 10 month Golden Retriever last Sunday. Both are wonderful dogs. We have a 15 year old cat who is like a little one to us like the dogs and had her almost that long. I'm sure we will have to through this process sooner rather than later with her.
Hang in there guys.

It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
I had a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel years ago with an ex of mine. They are actually the true definition of "lap dogs." They have the sweetest faces on Earth. If you can stand the shedding you will not regret getting that dog. I don't miss my ex at all but I miss the shit out of Bubba.
