M has their best team in decades, but reality is going to set in when they hit the road. Book it. I could also see Burke getting burnt out in the middle of B1G play like last year. But still a very good team.
Two quick questions:
1. do you have any affiliation with U of M ?
2. were you alive the last time U of M was any good in basketball ( 1989)?
By no means do I agree with Denard4Heisman, but this can't be an actual serious post can it? Are you suggesting that only ranked teams should count in strength of schedule? Are you also suggesting the 100th ranked team is the exact same as the 300th team because they are "cupcakes?"
For any team that claims to be a contender, there isn't much difference between playing the 100th ranked team and the 300th ranked team by RPI.
They aren't the exact same but the point is a win against either doesn't say a whole hell of a lot about your team. You should beat the 100th ranked team by 20 and the 300th ranked team by 40. You learn about your team when they play a legitimate top 10 type team, and you learn a LOT when you play them on the road or neutral court.
"RCMB: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainry." - some dude from MgoBlog
You do realize the current RPI ranks like this, right?
NC State is 12
Pitt is 44
So to recap, MSU has played four teams in the current RPI top 50, and scUM has played 2. scUM has a higher RPI because they play teams ranked around 75-150.
MSU plays those as well, but they play some 200-300 teams that drag down their ranking. They do play more upper echelon teams. scUM would never go on the road and play a top 20 RPI team (Miami)!

Forks down thread?
Living A Spartan Life!
I hate Michigan as much as anyone, but using rpi right now is incredibly stupid. I'd use kenpom or sagarin. Michigan schedule is comparable to ours.
He started it!
Also to recap, Michigan is 2-0 against them and MSU is 2-2. This is all pretty pointless this early in the season, but to think MSU has a harder schedule when literally no source has thier SOS higher is ridiculous.
The hypocrisy is strong with this one. All UM fans talk about is their pre-WWII football wins, and their self-awarded "national championships" from the 1900's. MSU fans can't reference championships from year even though the heart of this year;s team were key cogs in that championship? Here's how the past final fours will help us - the coach that got MSU there is still in East Lansing. He is considered one of the greatest tournament coaches of all time. I realize that most UM fans have little frame of reference because they haven't been able to make the tournament without cheating since the Carter Administration (Frieder was dirty well before Uncle Ed came into the picture). The tournament is a different animal, where jump shooting teams tend to flame out. By March, even the most well-conditioned athletes lose their legs. Those shots that fell in Dec/Jan begin to clang. Why do you think B___ rarely makes it past the first weekend of the NCAA's, bad luck? You can have your November Naismiths and non-conference "championships", MSU has bigger fish to fry.

you idiots are contending that your schedule has been just as difficult, if not moreso, than MSU's and other top teams. That's laughable. one true road game against a mediocre mid major and a bunch of patsies at home. That's it. Just because your patsies were a little less patsyish than ours doesn't mean jack shit. Michigan has done nothing to deserve the #3 ranking - their schedule is among the easiest in the country for ranked teams. We'll find out where they stand in February....until then it's all supposition and guess work.
Pitt and kstate are neither pasties nor were they at home
Pitt and KState are both weak as fuck this year.
Eff all you bitches for hijacking this thread.
Both teams only have one loss - to Michigan
Why would he have to hurry? There's always a sale at Walmart.
Except it isn't. It is actually one of the better strengths of schedule amongst ranked teams.
What are you people doing here? The team you come here (to your non-rival's message board) to try and justify, is playing right now. If you people are such super-duper die hard Walvie hoop fans that stuck by the team through the thin years, shouldn't you...oh I don't know, be watching them play? If, for nothing else, so you can come back on your non-rivals message board after the game and tell us all how they are revolutionizing basketball.
Dude I'm a state fan/grad. Also did my grad work at pitt, so didn't like some guy calling them garbage.
It's funny but when I read my post I do not see any mention of strength of schedule, rather the strength of both teams tougher opponents thus far. I do realize walverines are not college educated and probably cannot read. So I understand your confusion:)
Oops, my bad. Couldn't tell be your posts.
Scrooge McDick, what;s your excuse?
