what a joke.
The irony is kids to these guys are just like all that jewelry... trophies.
My Whiskey Blog
So sleazy, can't believe recruiting has turned into young people being manipulated..can't we go back to the good ole days??
if we lost a kid who picked Cal because of a shiny ring, I'd say thats a good loss.
I was expecting some dirt, not a good recruiting presentation. Why is this sleazy again?
Of course it's awesome if Izzo shows a recruit a ring or trophy, but if some other coach does, it's sleazy.
What a joke of a thread.
What's with the pic of the Iverson shoe in that link? I still have a pair of those.
I'm failing to see anything worthy being even mildly perturbed about.
Rings = Banners = Championships = Success
What recruit doesn't want that?
I'm guessing none of you saw the rings our bball team got Saturday for the B1G Championship... Those things were monstrous. I'm sure Gary Harris, Parker, etc all want their own someday too. That's the kind of recruits I want...

I agree with this. Sure it's boastful, but even Dantonio has made sure people see his B1G championship ring.
I don't see anything wrong/sleazy with this.
OP, do you realize the official MSU football poster has the 2010 Big Ten Championship ring on it?
Go to Skandalaris and walk in the northwest corner and tell us what you see right when you walk in the door. I'll give you a hint - they're in a dozen glass cases scattered throughout the room.

Roy just opened up a case of rings and gave them to the recruit...then he gave the recruit Jordan's ring.
I'm sure these are replicas and not real, but each ring has a value of approximately $10k. He just gave the kid over $30k in bling.
Pretty sleazy stuff...
If he kept the ring, I could see your point, but if he just held it and looked at it, I don't see any issues?
He showed them to him and "gave" them to him to look at. Im not saying these guys are above cheating, but there's no way they just handed over rings like that (and it be discussed in a publication).
sorry, I guess I was misunderstood, I'm not saying that this instance is sleazy, I just referred to Cal as sleazy in general (as I always do, and he is)
Also, If Roy is carrying around that much bling and if its real, I want his suitcase
absolute bullshit. I posted awhile ago the new Kentucky basteball "dorms" which are basically high end apartments and was utterly disgusted
How can the Big Ten even compete with this shit?
Build basketball dorms
Honestly I don't like Cal or Roy Williams, but Jesus.. if these guys even do so little as shit in a stall that's out of order, there will be a thread about it on tRCMB.
Just looks like you're grasping for straws here.
Why? What is so wrong about this? What is the reason for outrage?
Recruit: I'm young and naive and I like shiny things.
Calipari: Really? Look, here's something shiny. Come play here and you could get one of your own.
Williams: I've got even more shiny things. Come play here and you could get one of your own.
Exactly, I went in thinking it might be the beginning of the end for old Roy and Cal. This sounds pretty regular.
Yeah, I'm sure Roy let the kid keep the rings.
fuck off Nucky
