With the way Memphis fans talk about their team, you'd think we're playing Jerry Tarkanian's Runnin' Rebels tomorrow. They couldn't even impose their will on a slow St. Mary's team, yet they're going to run us out of the gym? Besides, MSU is pretty athletic in its own right. They aren't playing the dregs of CON-USA anymore, this is big boy basketball time.
I don't care how athletic they are, what I want to know is how good are they at playing basketball? Wisconsin is less athletic than the vast majority of teams they play, seems to work out okay for them. I'm pretty sure New Mexico was more athletic than Harvard.
"RCMB: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainry." - some dude from MgoBlog
Lol, gotta love the RCMB.
Get video evidence to prove your asinine statement wrong, turn into a sarcastic douchebag presenting an extreme strawman counterargument. Good stuff
They looked relatively fast, good handles quick first steps and good leapers. I think we are as fast and a bit bigger. I still am going to say they are like Illinois or Minnesota. I think they probably have the guys Kentucky didn't want. I would agree they are talented. I also think their coach has done ok w/ them. They could beat us, but they are not as good a team as they are individual players, in my opinion.
He seriously would have had like 35 and 25 if he wasn't exhausted with like 8-10 mins left.
That Payne foul trouble took away the little respite or two he needed.
Marriage is like flying with kids, if the flight had 500 connections, never ended, Ted Striker were your pilot and you ate the fish.
It's asinine to say that Nix doesn't have a ton of leaping ability or speed? Really? One uncontested breakaway dunk completely shatters that conclusion, huh?
I forgot how he was just throwing down all over the place yesterday. Oh wait...
C'mon bro, Nix doesn't suck but trying to make the case he's some real athletic center out there is just flat out wrong.
and AT LEAST one of those was dirty as shit and it's not like the 2008 team that played Memphis was some steamroller or a favorite vs Memphis that just got thrashed.
They were simply a 4 seed that's best player was a 5'11" cracker that couldn't get a shot off to save his life.
Like I said before. And I know you aren't arguing with.
His is very nimble, and has quick hands/feet. He is in NO WAY explosive though, vertically or horizontally.
I know, I'm in pretty much the same body as Nix.
I'm not too worried. Their elite athleticism still gave up 15 offensive rebounds to a bunch of white guys from SMC.

Actually, that baseline spin move Nix has is pretty damn explosive.
Yeah and his first like 5 minutes of the game were BRUTAL. I'd love to see what his second best career game is if his best was 25-15 against Valpo.
Probably the 25-11 he threw up against Texas. Let's stop shitting on Nix.
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
I fucking hate him. It's totally irrational, unjustified and stupid but I fucking hate him.
Also is this is 16-18 Texas Longhorns who's biggest guy is freshman Prince Ibeh coming in at 6'10" 245 lbs.

I hate "fans" like this. He's worked his ass off for four years, and still gets crap like this thrown his way.
So do washing machines.
Yup. Basically a street ball mentality. They're like SCum only minus a Trey Burke to make them actually look a lot better than they really are.
"I love March!" - Tom Izzo
Don't see how I'm shitting on him at all...
Guy played a hell of a game but he was Dragon ASS at the end.
There have been a lot of teams who thought they were going to out-run and out-jump MSU over the years who went home early instead. U$C and Louisville in 2009 come to mind.
Vim -- noun: robust energy and enthusiasm : VITALITY
I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about that clown JMC. Nothing wrong with your comments.
Lets just leave it at this.....if they beat us because of "athleticism" or beat us just because we should be ashamed....we are loaded with talent and play solid defense. If they want to turn it into a sprint then they are in trouble.
To die in ann arbor is redundant
Don't forget the great Stanley Robinson!
Durrell Summers throws down a monster dunk over Stanley Robinson of UConn. Be sure to log onto to www.arhenetwork.com, one of the most amazing sports websites to hit the net. Launching this month!
Look ass face, I didn't say, "I don't respect him" or "I don't think he's valuable to the team" or even "I think he sucks at basketball."
There's just something about the way he operates and how he's operated in the past that makes me not like him. It's not even about basketball totally because he's a fine center, not great but but above average a majority of the time.
" But I don't think I've ever actually witnessed a derrick Nix dunk in his 4 years at MSU."
That statement was asinine. You were attempting to prove your point using an extreme example and got proven wrong.
Then you turned into a whining child who has to make up arguments because he just CAN'T be wrong
You're right, you said that you "fucking hate him".
You forgot a zero there, dude.
>>A lot of people don’t realize how athletic Nix is – his standing vertical leap of 30.5 inches, for example, is better than Keith Appling and Brandan Kearney (though those guys move past Nix when they get a step before jumping). Nix leg presses 1,060 pounds, best on the team and among the best Vorkapich has seen at MSU. He can do eight chin-ups – think about that for a minute – and he’s tops on the team with 20 bench reps of 185 pounds. <<
I have no idea. I do know that MSU is a better basketball team.
