Do i atleast get consideration for being 1/4th a moron?
it's the required loyalty oath to the british that makes recruiting difficult.

You can be twice the Moran at times
So, he's qualified then?
I suspect this isn't the first time you've heard this in your life - perhaps it's the first time from a male - but you're trying too hard.
Man, they really like their soccer over there.
This isn't North Korea, this is the U.S.S.R.
247's choices are
1) upgrade moderating tools on their time/dime to deal with the spammers, which isn't even necessarily guaranteed to work outside of just being a temporary stopgap.. or:
2) make everyone pay for VIP boards and float a little white lie about how it makes the board the most secure and that it doesn't have to do with money as much as security.
Not hard to see which option they, a business, are going to go with. 247 is pretty much fucked either way on this. They can let the spammers keep filling our boards and some people will slowly get sick of it and not renew or they can make the boards VIP and only about 25% of the people that aren't VIP will go that route and the rest won't, creating a drop off in traffic that even Nucky couldn't save.
Only SuperMods can save us now...
I guess they are moving on from textiles...
Are other 247 boards getting hit like this, or is it just MSU?
The fact that someone thought this was a good idea is just outrageous. We don't have staff on this site. It's not like Bucknuts where six writers are camped out on the boards all day. Trevor is rarely on here nowadays and Dan and Sean are busy enough providing the site with content. They're not going to scour the boards for 2-3 hours per day handing out IP bans to spammers on top of what they're already doing. Mods need to have IP ban powers, plain and simple.
I know Trevor doesnt care about this place anymore, and 247 doesn't care about what we have to say. However Trevor cares what we as a majority have to say and 247 will probably hear Trevor out. We need to be heard people rise against!!!!!!
I still think it makes sense to charge a few bucks per username. Give them a few weeks of VIP when they signup so they can see the content. If they cancel, they get to keep the username.
Solves the spam and nucky/troll problem. unless these people wanna keep throwing 24/7 money....

Dan and Sean shouldn't be moderating this place at all. They're journalists, not message board moderators.
I'm surprised there isn't a more active group of "admin" or "head moderator" folks who can hand out IP bans and make decisions about adding more regular mods or whatever.
I don't think every mod should necessarily have the ability to hand out IP bans at will, but it doesn't seem that difficult to have a system in place where if someone is spamming the hell out of the board with repeated accounts, a regular mod can put someone in some kind of IP timeout, or can at least quickly get someone who has IP ban authority to come in and take care of it.
I'm sure the 247 moderating tools leave a lot to be desired in this area too. I know I've heard current mods complain about the lack of "report post" and inability to merge threads.
as for potential new mods...
who are the people reporting stuff the most, seems like that would be a reasonable place to start when trying to identify people who want the place cleaned up.
This is a great idea. Even $5 per user name would address both problems at once, while not roping people into a long term commitment for VIP service that they might not want.
But of course the real problem with your suggestion is that it makes too much sense...
Once the crowd starts talking about revolt, it's just a matter of time.
I'd have multi-quoted what I'm referring to, but well, you know.
I'd also do a poll to guage the frustration of the masses here, but well, you know.
Hey guys. These are all great ideas but they don't fit our vision. Horses are still the most efficient form of transportation and that Ford guy is insane for thinking his contraption can work.
