I can't decide. As a fan, I'd sure like to see the team get back to their winning ways but maybe the practice time and rest is more valuable.
Appling's hit a wall.. he needs to rest.. Trice needs to get back into game ready shape.. Only have 2 games over the next 11 days should help them rest and prep for March.
Perfect this team needs to rest. A week to gameplan for Michigan can't hurt either.
We've been shorthanded and a bit battered for a while now. Need some rest to get everyone back on board. Also need some practices that aren't about prepping for the other team to work on the fundamentals that the team has largely ignored lately.
It is good. I can't believe Hollis swung a bye week before the Michigan game.
He's a genius.
I could not agree more with this reply....they had a very emotional loss to IU and a number of important games in succession with little time to rest or practice....and the practice time is as important as the rest, since part of the rest they need is mental rest, not just physical. I will NEVER quit on an Izzo coached team.
This team need sit around and play checkers and listen to music for a day or two. Trice needs to be in game shape and Appling needs to relax and go play horse or something......Thank god this team has some time off because they needed it
To die in ann arbor is redundant
Lets not get too carried away there Tony the Tiger.

I predict that an MSU win will lead to this board praising the effect of a week's rest, and an MSU loss will convince people that too much rest threw off the team's groove. Also, a Spartan player will be drafted in the first round, and another will be accused of lacking heart and focus (possibly the same player in both cases).
The way they have been playing, who wants to see them play? A week off is healthy for all parties involved.
Its good because they need more practice time together now that Trice is back.
After Michigan at home, at Nebraska, Indiana at home, at Ohio state i would think it would be a positive.
If we were rolling off two wins vs Indiana and OSU i would say bad but after 0-2...
"If you're worried about Wolverine fans, just move to Pasadena. You'll never have to deal with 'em."
If i was a State fan, i wouldn't worry to much about it. Michigan doesn't match up real well with State, which became painfully clear a couple weeks ago. I don't think the change in venue is going to matter.
The way this team is playing, it's a good thing. Appling and Dawson need to get out of their funk, and practice plus rest time could do wonders for them. It also gives the team a chance to watch more film of both the opponent and themselves.
Here's the answer:
If we win = GOOD
if we lose = bad.
I think heading into a week off will help be huge. This will be good for them to get off whatever high they were on after the last Michigan game and humble them a little bit after having 2 straight losses and get back to work. This has to be the most important week leading into the game on Sunday for the team. Trice also getting some practice time with the team will be awesome. Completely forgot that we killed Michigan without Trice. With Trice..I am interested to see how we play as we have an extra shooting threat on the perimeter that can give Appling some rest. I don't think it will be helpful for just the Michigan game but this week will be probably the most important leading up to March Madness. Hopefully it will get us to focus on winning out the rest of the games instead of playing with the pressure of winning the Big Ten Championship.
Thats what people thought going to Columbus.
It's good. They need the rest, and they need to fix some of the problems that plagued them during the second half against OSU. Expect lots of work on ballscreen defense in practice this week.

Our rivals have become aware of themselves and are now reverse-jinxing us on our own board. We gone.
We beat Ohio State by 3 at home..
Serious question. You're convinced MSU is doomed. You've posted as much in half a dozen threads today. Why do you watch the games at this point?
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
It's necessary, I couldn't take another barf fest like the last two this week.
I'm convinced? Do me a favor, let me know where I posted anything remotely close to that assinine assumption. Comprehension fail.
.......Now my expectations may be higher than you and maybe that's why you seem confused. They had no business losing yesterday.
........and they lost by 30 to Wiscy. What's your point? If MSU is a top 5 team, they win at a top 20 teams' arena all day long, regardless of officiating, bad indivdual days, etc. Just win baby.
That and the fact that the Big Ten schedule gave us gave us 5 out of six games in a row against ranked teams. It is a poorly balanced schedule that is impossible to handle.
We really need to work. Nix is being overplayed on his right shoulder which makes it difficult for him to spin to his right and shoot his lefty jump hook. If he could spend some time on a shot he could get off a pivot to his left he would be much more effective. Even if it were a jump shot it would be better then nothing. Nix has improved more than any player at State I can remember. He could barely run up the court his freshmen year, but he needs a counter move for his jump hook. Costello has to hit the film room, he got beat at least once on a missed assignment. Some of the other guys have to figure out how they can contribute.
Do we need to win this year to keep our Final Four streak alive?
