With the BCS system its football. When they expand to a 8 team playoff its a toss up.

Rose Bowl. While a Final Four is pretty much available to anyone, you typically need to be in the BigTen/Pac10 to go to the Rose Bowl
The only guarantee is that the B1G will lose the Rose Bowl. Well at least the last three seasons.

Winning an NCAA Basketball championship is much harder than football.
Yeah I remember beating you guys four times in one year. What's not to remember.
Tis better to come and lost than something something.
At least I know it wasn't my fault the two times before this year.
The Badgers were there for many of the key moments...two regular loses to MSU to give them a BIG regular season title...a semi final BTT lose to pave the way to that championship...and of course the Final Four were you kindly rolled out the red carpet to our 2000 NC.
"Thanks" and "Your welcome" for being a part and being included!

I remember it well as well. That was a hell of a team.

I wouldn't change it for anything. One of the best weekends I've ever had.
Football fans place this mythical importance on the Rose Bowl that is pretty puzzling, even moreso now that the Big Ten has been the laughing stock of the nation for quite some time now. So what, you're the best team in a shit conference with 12 teams.
The Final Four almost always requires you to beat one or two elite teams from around the country.
Michigan fan with new found success in the sport of hoops asking an msu board what it's like to experience march madness and what the final four is all about...
FF = 4 of 320ish teams = 1/80
Rose Bowl (Just B1G or P12) = 1/12
However, technically any BCS team can be taken by the Rose Bowl if the circumstances allow it. So for a team like NIU to go to the Rose Bowl, it's possible, but the odds are super low.
For a B1G or P12 team, the FF. Anyone else, the Rose Bowl
+1. Are you Steve? Sup brah?
"If you're worried about Wolverine fans, just move to Pasadena. You'll never have to deal with 'em."
Yeah that's true. The argument should be limited to B1G or Pac teams only then.
No. All ours were in the modern era of the BIG TEN (1953) and thus count as they should.
Didn't you win a NCAA Basketball title in 42? No football though correct?
BTW. All my buddies that went to Minny U always tell me hockey is all that matters
I'm sorry, I thought this thread was about which was harder to get into...
You've benefited from cheating, rule changes, miracle plays, 1 year player rentals and a pedophile scandal to bumble your way into 3 straight Rose Bowl shamings. Seems like things just happen for you.
On the other side you have a coach who's won 3 B1G championships but no FFs...
I figured you'd agree that it's harder to make the FF.
No wonder the Japs bombed us. They couldn't stand the style of bball being played in America.
No FB championships.
Shamings? Did you watch the games? Every single one went down to the last possession/play. I'll never apologize for our guys doing what they needed to do to go. I'm proud as hell of it.
Disagree. I think a basketball team can get hot and ride one great player to a championship (Carmelo, Kemba Walker etc.) but I don't think you could do that in football.
Of course you can't in football. You have to be good all year to win it. Football is much harder.
old timers on the board won't like this
I agree with it 100%. Ever since the BCS, the Rose bowl is just another bowl. It means you won a conference, that has been medicore at best for the last 15 years, and weren't 1 of the top 2 teams in the country. yawn
Again, avoiding the point... but so it goes.
And you may be proud but I was speaking for the rest of the B1G... we're sick of you guys hanging your hats on "almost winning". At least your coach ran away before it got too embarrassing for him.
The Rose Bowl hasn't lost any luster, it still hosts the best 8-6 team in the country.
