Yeah, but did you give a crap about LSU/Alabama 10 years ago? You care about that game now because they are both good. That is why you want to watch it. 10 years ago Bama sucked. Very few rivalries always have 2 good teams year after year.
Do you think Tressel used ineligible players his entire time at OSU? Dude it was one year and the man was canned. Yeah it sucked for us but we only know what is stated in the media so feel free to believe what you want.
As for putting an asterisks on Tressel dominance over Michigan think about it this way. If Tressel players were suspended for every year for part of the season, that would mean they would be out the first few games. Given The Game is the last week in November, OSU would still have a team loaded of Tressel players who are eligible to play and beat Michigan by the end of the year. No matter how you do the math here, OSU would still beat Michigan suspended players or not. This would similar to Tressel admitting he did wrong in 2010, the tatted 5 sit out the first few games, then come back for the rest of the year. They still would beat Michigan so your argument is moot.
Please don't act like suspensions carry over an entire year if someone does something wrong because no one has never had to sit out an entire season from beginning to end.
BTW 10+12= 22 not 20...

So lemme get this straight ...
tOSU's wins with Tressel shouldn't count.
UM's losses with DickRod shouldn't count.
Hell, when you put it that way, it becomes clear that UM has actually been dominating the series for decades!
The delusion is strong with this one.
To achieve great things, two things are needed; a plan, and not quite enough time. -- Leonard Bernstein
The rivalry isn't manufactured. There's a real history and tradition for it...in football. That rivalry and importance however is on the downswing. There's a natural cycle and rivalries grow dim and then grow bright. For a long time as Auburn eclipsed Bama, the Iron Bowl was pretty unimportant nationally, then for a few years it was THE game, and now it's not that important. Same with the Red River Shootout. FSU-Miami used to be appointment TV, but now it's forgettable ACC football. Urban Meyer is obviously the man to lead O$U; I'm not sold on Hoke yet.
As for their 'hate' with O$U, it's confined to the gridiron. Their hockey and hoops rivalries aren't that great; they don't have institutional hatred built up, and their olympic sports don't seem to rattle each other's chains. If you compare that with us, there IS a natrual hatred here. Their basketball team hates ours, and there's no love lost from our boys. Our hockey rivalry is one of the best in the country (BC-BU and CC-Denver are the only ones I'd concede to).
I think interstate rivalries are always less virulent than intrastrate rivalries, unless there is some common meeting ground (KC for Mizzou-KU or Toledo for scUM-O$U). You may hate them, but you don't have to deal with them on a daily basis. scUM-O$U is not a zero sum game. MSU-scUM is 100% zero sum. Every dollar they get from the state is a dollar that COULD go to us. Every unaligned fan is a fan that could be buying tix, buying concessions, and buying t-shirts. Workplace honor is at stake.
The simple point of things is that we see each other daily, and we insult each other (though not completey in jest). While I have good friends that are Wolverines (and I feel dirty just typing that), I really do HATE that university. I know most spartans HATE their athletics, and I most scUMmers hate our athletics. However, you see wolverines rooting for O$U success (and vice versa). I would never root for scUM (case in point, I wanted IU to beat them even though it cost us a B1G title). I just don't see a level of hate there.
Don't you know? Michigan never loses games. There are always excuses that caused the loss, and therefore should not count. Just think of all those losses due to the crown of the field. That had to be hundreds right there.
A lot of the rivalry isn't manufactured. There is a history there, and they will always fight for recruits in each other's state.
But a lot of it is now. The respective media outlets serving both programs act like it's a national thing when it's just not. Each fan base kind of lives in an echo chamber that tells them it's the most important rivalry in the game. Then you have the constant desire for a "return" to the Big 2 type days. The fans really push it despite what's happened on the field lately just because the rivalry is a big part of what they think makes them nationally relevant or special.
I remember, I think last year, some O line recruit for UM posted on twitter or somewhere a video of him burning an OSU recruiting letter. He was totally being egged on by social media fans. The kid never played a down and it just seemed so artificial and contrived.
That's Michigan's thinking. Rich Rod sucked...so his tenure shouldn't count
Considering Rich Rod's success before Michigan, and after Michigan, maybe Michigan fans should reassess the reason why Michigan wasn't very good during his tenure....
Nah...that may involved pointing the finger at Michigan...and that goes against a true Michigan Man's programming.
Don't forget, last year was all RRod's fault but the year before was all Hoke (except the games they lost).

I wouldn't root for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban....
After living in Ohio for 4 years I can say that there are so many dumb rednecks outside of Columbus who say they hate the entire state of Michigan. A bunch of morans.
Good call on giving up the upper peninsula for that dump Toledo. We already have our own industrial shit-hole town. What do we need yours for?
Over the years I've come to realize that UM fans can rationalize just about anything. They have to make the facts somehow jive with the idea they have been sold that UM is the dominant program in college football.
You asked "Do you think Tressel used ineligible players his entire time at OSU?" ...The thing is...I don't know. If you did it once and not get caught...you might do it again. You also said..."Dude it was one year adn the man was canned."...Again...it was one year...that we all "KNOW" of.
It's the same thing as saying...well...such and such person lied...well...if they lied, and you know they lied. Its probably a good chance that it is not that persons first time lying. That is all Im saying.
You said BTW 10+12= 22 not 20...Yeah...that was my mistake. My bad.
Outside of football u-m cares about about the games against MSU more than tOSU. The meida acts like it's the grandest rivalry but it's really nowhere close to Bama-Auburn or Texas-A&M. Sup, tJYD.
Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance
How many Michigan players were allowed to pull a Charles Woodson under Carr that we don't know about?
This sums it up perfectly
Well, there's been two BTCGs and OSU/UM haven't played in either.
Nope, all of our losses count. We sucked during those years, there are no two ways about it.
Also...Considering our sucess before his hire and our historic bed SH!#$g during that time period its a very good spot to point the finger and say he was the issue.
I would hope that he was a suicide bomber.
hoke- to alter or manipulate so as to give a deceptively or superficially improved quality or value.
Do yourself a favor and learn how to use an ellipsis, or at least cut back.
BTW, Michigan got nailed for a ton of benefits with their basketball program. Your same logic applies there. How do we know the football program was also not involved? How do we know it has stopped. By your logic, your university is a much bigger cheater. Oh, and I guess you can send back that basketball national championship.
it is a rivalry no doubt, but I honestly think deep down umAA has a sincere hatred for us that surpasses the "ohio" rivalry.
But on our end, we have to keep winning. Beating them at home this year will add fuel to the fire. Of course you will hear the same rebuttal from the walmarts:
"lucky wins", "only won during those four years because of RichRod", "we own the all time series 67-25-2", "sparty will always be little brother," and "ohio is our real rival".
the team 133 and Ohio bullshit is beyond stupid. it does make it easy to make fun of their fan base. After the down years, they needed something to rally around. If Hoke is good at anything, it's knowing to cater to your fan base, even if it is lemmings wearing maize/blue. It makes beating them that much sweeter, but losing to them that much more sour.

"The price is wrong Bob"
That was one of the main reasons I wanted to have MSU in the west.
Imagine the comedy listening to scuM fans having to root for us while we play their real rival for the BT title in Indy.
They surely would want to see us beat OSU right? Please the majoritiy of that fan base would have loved to see OSU crush us in that situation.
I have this conversation with buckeye fan at least once a week.
...buckeye fan: "so you are from Michigan. You aren't a Michigan fan are you?"
...me: "no, I went to college at Michigan State. I am a Spartan."
...perplexed Buckeye fan: "so are you going to switch your allegiances to Ohio State now?"
...me: "no, I am a Spartan."
...confused Buckeye: "they are the green and white team, right?"
...that last line usually happens only with women. Those two self-centered fanbases think that they are the only two that exist and that they should trump all others.
Here's my line of thinking....
To get to the RB, you can no longer dodge the best team in the Big Ten. You either have to play them in your division or in the title game. For MSU, getting Ohio St at home every other year will be easier to win than playing on turf (which will make OSUs spread offense faster) and a probable 60 to 40 OSU to MSU fan split in Indy. So regardless, MSU would have to play OSU if they want to make the Rose Bowl, assuming OSU has a top team in any given year.
Basically, the days of Wisconsin making Rose Bowls by ducking teams due to scheduling is now defunct. If MSU wants to make a RB, you have to beat the top teams whether they are in your division or not. If Wisky or Nebraska want to win the Big Ten., they'll have to beat Ohio State. If not OSU, then they will have to beat MSU/UM/PSU which would mean those teams have a really good team to win the East.
In my experiences, the average scUM fan hates MSU much more than OSU or ND. Their hatred towards MSU is 365 days a year, with OSU and ND it's just one day a year. And why wouldn't it be that way? The scUM fans who live in Michigan have to deal with State fans every day at work, at home, read about them in the papers/online/sports talk radio, etc. The OSU rivalry may be "bigger" from a nationally recognized standpoint but the MSU rivalry is much more personal to them. There is no debating this. Unless you're a Michigan fan living in Ohio, then it would be different I'm sure.

OSU doesnt want to talk about Maurice Clarrett, pay attention to the loaner car, sound familiar?
Clarett's time at Ohio State University was marked by several troubling incidents. He was seen yelling at his position coach during the Northwestern - Ohio State game in the 2002 season. In December 2002, he publicly maligned OSU officials for not paying for him to fly home for the funeral of a friend and accused administrators of lying when they said he had not filed the necessary paperwork. In July 2003, Clarett became the center of an academic scandal when a teaching assistant told the New York Times that Clarett had received preferential treatment from a professor; the investigation did not find sufficient evidence of academic misconduct.
Ohio State later suspended Clarett for the 2003 athletic year after he was charged with filing a false police report. Clarett had filed a false claim that more than $10,000 in clothing, CDs, cash and stereo equipment were stolen from a car he borrowed from a local dealership in September 2003. Athletic Director Andy Geiger stated that Clarett also took in special benefits totaling approximately $20,000, and repeatedly misled in
