you folks have a friggin gauntlet coming up, dont you have bama next yr?
correct me if im wrong, but that would be bama, nd, osu, um and psu and any crossover from the west (whisky, brasky)...
damn, that will have to be the #1 toughest schedule in the country (i would think)
That is our payback for the upcoming schedule, which does not include UW, OSU, or PSU and gives us UM at home.
yeah, the bucks have an easy schedule too, (no msu or brasky) and psu, uw in the shoe...
tough road games are at nw and at um (at purdue too, they always give osu fits)
You guys pointing out how "Michigan fans always talk about MSU" should keep in mind that they are talking to you - a Michigan State fan - and naturally the conversation will, more often than not, be about Michigan-MSU, not Michigan-OSU.
Alabama is not till 2016, I think, and that's in doubt. We do have Oregon next year, but I think that's in doubt as well after the B1G/PXII agreement fell through...though I believe we're trying hard to keep it (It was a good series the last time we played)/
It would be @ Oregon next year, meaning we have crappy home schedules 2 years in a row. THeir return trip is scheduled for 2015.
2013 Home: Western Michigan, USF, Youngstown St., Indiana, Purdue, Michigan, Minnesota
2014 Home: Jacksonville State, Wyoming, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Northwestern, Nebraska, Iowa
Which is why I welcome the new divisions. I'm sure it will guarantee at least Michigan and PSU at home one year, and OSU and a top team from the other side at home the next....or at least it should. I don't like these 1 marquee home game a year schedules.
East is way tougher. I just like watching good football. I'm old enough now where having a weak watered down schedule doesn't fool me into believing we have a great team. I just would love in my lifetime that MSU gets good enough to where we go into every game on our schedule and say "Hey we legitimately have a shot". I think Dantonio has got us to that point conference wise, so, while its going to just be a bitch for MSU, it is what it is and we get to watch some great football teams almost weekly. Bring it on, if we get slapped around, we don't deserve to be on that stage and have to attack it differently.
I'll be surprised if it's not MSU v. OSU in Indy honestly. But it will depend on how good PSU is at home. both Michigan and Nebraska play PSU @ PSU this season, and both will probably be fairly critical even though PSU is in the opposite divisions. I think the home games all stand between Michigan/Nebraska/MSU
MSU: v. Michigan, @ Nebraska
Nebraska: @ Michigan, v. MSU
Michigan: @MSU, v. Nebraska
I think all three will be 1-1 in those games, and I don't think much of Iowa or Minnesota. Northwestern can and will scare, but all three get Northwestern late in the year when depth becomes an issue with them, I can see Northwestern, Minnesota and Iowa going 0-3 each v. MSU/Michigan/Nebraska.
If that happens, it comes down to cross overs. Michigan State misses OSU, PSU and Wisconsin. Nebraska misses OSU and Wisconsin, and Michigan misses just Wisconsin (Wisconsin, like MSU misses the perceived top teams in the other division, and plays @ OSU in the 2nd week of the BT Season...which I find to be terrible scheduling - I think that division could be decided in that game). That's why Michigan @ PSU and Nebraska @ PSU are incredibly important to the Legends Division. If Michigan loses that early game @ PSU, they probably are forced to NEED to beat OSU to make it to Indy. By the way, that is Michigan's first road game of the season....those are always pretty sketchy for every B1G team.
With tOSU's schedule, a 24 game winning streak is a definite possibility. Do you see any speed bumps??
I wasn't aware they were addressing mgoblog threads with MSU readers in mind. Thanks for the clarification.
its definetly going to be a meat grinder in your division this yr...those games between msu/um/neb are must wins for all...
at nw, at purdue "should" be wins, but osu "should' have comfortably beat purdue in the shoe last yr and was very lucky to escape...
wisc and psu are both in the shoe, but both have traded games back and forth with osu the last few yrs so anything can happen...
at um to close the season will not be easy...
This plus PSU is a pain in the butt for OSU at home. In the last 6 games, the road team has won the game 5 of 6 times. PSU will be a tough but I'm sure Urbs and co. will have the plan drafted to route the cult worshiping Nittany Lions.

Or, maybe, it had a lot to do with Rich Rod never being welcomed at Michigan. Along with the fact that Michigan fans don't understand that re-hauling your ENTIRE system takes time to come back from.
Won't the 2014 conference schedule be changed up though? Being in Chicago now, I was hoping we'd keep the game @ Purdue for 2014.
