Dream on. Coach D will be at MSU for a very long time sans a scandal. You people are delusional.
The moment is eternal
No we just aren't content with mediocrity
Was the team mediocre the last 2 years? The team AND program were shit prior to MD. You act like this is the 3rd year of this.

Maxwell is a fine QB. He made 2 mistakes. On the fumble in the qb sneak, NW blew up the middle and pushed our center a** straight backwards into Maxwell. Fumble ir not, why such a readable snap. Time on play clock, no hard count, totally predictable and timed perfect by NW. Receivers drop way too many -that's not Maxwell. They fumble -is not on Maxwell. Poeple will be shocked when this kid plays in nfl. OC terrible and predictable. Except for hands of our Constitution wrs, we have a as much talent as anyone in BT. You would have to work hard to lose this many games. I will say that it is obvious BT has instructed refs to give msu trouble in coaches defense. If i was a committ i
would wonder whats going on with b10 refs. Bad pass int calls against you in 2the straight games, and get no call on a true pi is NOT coincidence.
of all the bullshit I have read today from the SBs, the "people will be shocked when the kid plays in nfl" concerning Maxwell takes the cake. lmfao.
that's absolutely ridiculous. you don't really believe that, do you?...
This program has been mediocre since 1967. A few sniffs of big ten titles, not much else. Always the same mantra: "Our goal is to win the big ten and go to the rose bowl." MSU is never in the discussion about the national championship.
This season is not MD's best effort.
I can't help but think that perhaps MD was getting a little cocky. MSU fans were eating it up, "MD has brass balls" and all that.
Just a hunch, but I think we'll see a humbler MD from here on out.
Glass is half empty with all these heartbreaking losses. But don't get kneejerk thinking Dantonio has forgotten how to coach. Very few were asking that kind of question over the last 2 seasons.
I see enough blame to go around.
Receivers dropping balls even with a dedicated receivers coach.
A QB who can show spots of brilliance, then tries to be too perfect throwing the ball away instead of running
An OC who starts a lot of series off tackle and the opponents know it (Pointed out by a former player from the 70's)
A FG kicker who has been less than reliable
I started off thinking 9-3 or 8-4 no worse than 7-5 but 4 Big Ten losses at home doesn't get it done for many fans and more importantly the donors Hollis and Dantionio rely to keep up with the facilities arms race.
True but other than Duffy and Saban ( who wouldn't have stayed anyway ) the selection of coaches has been mediocre to just plan stupid choices like BW and JLS. MD will get this straightened out in my opinion. He's attracting better talent and although he may be loyal to a fault I do believe he will make coaching changes if necessary. I wouldn't be surprised if Rousher moves on after this season.
Still, have to feel for this defense. This is a Rose Bowl defense - could have been considered one of the all-time MSU greats. Certainly the best I can ever recall.
And it won't matter considering the special teams and offensive play, and the resulting season.
The poster you quoted and told to "dream on" said if next year wasn't better he would be on the hot seat.
I expect the team to bounce back next year but if not I agree that there needs to be some pressure on Dantonio. 2 good years doesn't give a you a free pass that lasts forever and it's pathetic how many Spartans are okay with being good once or twice every 5 years.
Chizik won a NC and people put him on the hot seat this year.
What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
Really? Like who?
I don't think there's anyone here who is ok with that.
Don't post poop!
The SEC coaching security is equal to the NFL. Not the culture at MSU. MD will not be on the hot seat next year without any scandal or violation. Other coaches will say that to get an advantage but it won't be the case. Tell you what Cosmo. If MD goes 6-6 and is fired I will buy you a steak dinner. If not you owe me a beer or 2.
Did he give his "game of inches" bull after the game?
"People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." - Mark Dantonio.
I've been saying that all year, but the majority of the posters on here flamed me for it.
Well i guess it takes 5 home losses in a season to see that.
Quone, to quone something. Like a patient gets difficult you quone them.
Shold have stopped with "I'm far from a football expert."
Yeah, but Auburn is 3-8 (0-7). And that's WITH exceptional talent.
I don't understand how anyone can defend Dantonio on this year. If you want to throw around 11 win seasons with the greatest QB in the history of the school, fine. Defend anything this year. Playing results, if Little Giants and Mousetrap don't work, they are idiotic calls.
Well, he's only got one more year to "be pretty good".
From what I see, he throws a decent deep ball. Short & intermediate routes he locks in on one guy every time & his throws are a mixed bag of on target, too high, too hard & wide. Today, several of his sideline throws had no air under them & our WR had no chance to run under the ball. He still is hesitant to run with the ball, even with a wide open field in front of him.
Possibly he & the WR's make the adjustments for next year, but geezus. they've been adjusting this crap for three months, since the beginning of Fall practice & we're still seeing the same missed plays & dropped balls.
Why take a shot at Northwestern... are you living in the 80's? This was their 4TH WIN AT SPARTAN STADIUM since the year 2000.
When Dantonio was interviewed on the The Journey a few weeks about about the Michigan game I got chills from him. However, it was not in a good way. The guy reminded me too much of JLS at times. I can't help but feel betrayed when prior to this season he was saying that Maxwell was the best QB he had seen. Compare that to before 2011 he was asked with Cousins and crew returning that he had the best team under him and he stated "let's wait until the end of the season to judge that."

"You can't win there anymore." - Hugh "Duffy" Daugherty, last MSU football coach to win a national championship, made this statement in 1974, 2 years after he retired.
Make of it what you will.
"I love March!" - Tom Izzo
I still think dudes are being too rought on Maxwell. leave aside the bad INT in the 2nd half where he failed to look off the safety and he played well yesterday. sure, the fumbled snap hurt, but frankly that play was dead in the water from the start and was simply a horrible play call by Roushar. not quite sure why we didn't see any misdirection to the TE or the FB in the flat on either of those goal line situations.
Roushar consistently goes away from the run even when it is working. this team does not have anybody who can go 80 yards on any given play, and when you have to go 80 yards one 5 yard play at a time there is very little room for error. which means all it takes is 1 or 2 play-calls that don't work to kill a drive, and that is exactly what has happened all season long.
at the end of the day, this falls back on Coach D - we ran 35 times yesterday and threw 47. a team with as good a defense as MSU has this season and with a first-year starter at QB should NEVER throw the ball more than it runs. for example, the drive where Maxwell got hammered and threw a pick 6 Roushar failed to call a single run play, and no matter how good an O Line you have a decent defense is eventually going to pin its ears back and come with pressure. we also had countless drives stall after solid runs by Bell when Roushar went with the pass on 1st down and we ended up in 2nd and long situations, which is just simply not putting your young players in a position to succeed.
I think we should take some of these people, and send 'em up to Bear Mountain for a picnic.
