This game was like a bad rerun. No shame in losing to a good duke team, but there's no way in hell we should've lost by ten.
The refs were calling ticky-tack shit and destroyed any rhythm the game could've had, but we lost b/c we played like idiots. duke came up with a good plan to defend the post, and in response... what? Did we try to impose our will? Did we make adjustments? No, we had a bunch of players playing tight and trying shots they had never attempted in their lives.
All season long, our offense was feed the post and kick out for threes. So why did we got away from it tonight? Give duke's D some credit, but Nix played like an idiot, and our perimeter players didn't move their feet and didn't hit their open looks. Why does it take Trice all game to take a three when everyone else is struggling?
This one is on the coaches and players. Bad plan, bad adjusting, bad performance. A good season, but it should've been more. I hope Payne and Harris come back, and we wise up.
Vim -- noun: robust energy and enthusiasm : VITALITY
bad shooting against good three point shooting
And why does it take us so long to start checking Curry? STOOPID.
Why are we fouling inside of ten seconds on the shot clock at the end? STOOPID.
guess you should coach the team
A dumb ass message board poster telling Izzo he needs to get smarter. Get over yourself.
Head over to the Berk. Knock on the door. Tell them.
Let us know how it goes.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
This...and not just bad shooting but bad shot selection as well.
"I love March!" - Tom Izzo
tom izzo is stupid, must get smarter!
Yep, besides Payne and Harris missing some open looks that they normally hit with some degree of consistency, Duke had our guys taking a bunch of shots out of their comfort zone.
On the other end, Duke just seemed to be running their offense without much disruption.

Typical weak message board responses. This team has been carrying a big suitcase full of dumbfuck around all year. You could see it was going to do them in months ago. I don't want to see it again next year.
I don't know if it's Izzo or just that Duke always has more talent than we do. But they own us, that's for sure.
We had no fight left for the final 10 minutes.
Grow up kid. This is a message board, not a Tom Izzo fan page.
pot calling the kettle black
In response to a butthurt, weak OP.
I like this. I'm stealing it.
"Spartan women were known for their natural beauty... They were notorious for their razor-sharp wit and outspoken natures."
This is on the green seaters, you guys.
one cannot steal a "suitcase full of dumbfuck" because that is just an expression, wordplay, if you will.
Payne and Harris are coming back.
It was clear Dook had a good plan to take away our inside game, but we had Plumlee with 3 fouls, yet seldom tried to penetrate with Appling and Harris. Harris penetrated and Plumlee got the hell out of the way.
We lost. So be it.
This game was awful because it was officiated poorly. As Mike Sadler tweeted, it had more whistles than the theme song of the Andy Griffith show.
I agree except for the impose your will. They did and there were four offensive charges or fouls in a row.
What about Harris fouling near the end of the shot clock when he wasn't suppose to, and then Izzo letting 29-seconds run off when he was suppose to foul.
Oh snap! A message board loser says he doesn't want to see us lose next year! Tom Izzo better try extra hard then!
Stop acting like a cunt.
I don't agree with every point in the OP, but I do agree with the general point that this team makes a lot of poor decisions and does not play smart basketball often enough.
When the margin for error became zero (down 10 or whatever with 4 minutes to go), we just doubled down on poor decisions and shitty clock management. If you're gonna foul and send 'em to the line, don't waste 25 goddamn seconds. That happened a few times. It certainly wasn't the difference in the game, but it was annoying.
I have no shame in saying Izzo was outcoached, He was. But that doesnt mean he was terrible by any means.
Watched at a bar with all Illinois/Big Ten Fans, and the two main themes were that they were surprised by Gary Harris' play and Izzo not being able to pull the right strings.
Sideline calls had nothing to do with the outcome of this game.
Can we stop this BS?
It wasn't Izzo's best coaching performance for sure, and Gary Harris played like the true freshman he is with a hurt shoulder. That said, along with some timely assists from the refs, Duke simply had too much offensive firepower and MSU could not match them in that regard. This team, while talented, lacks pure shooters other than Harris. We need shooters who can consistently hit an open 3. Izzo & company can teach them defense. Projects who take 3 years to develop into average B1G players are not what this program needs or should be recruiting anymore. There are players right now on this roster who are simply not scholarship worthy to be on an elite program like MSU is.The game is about 3 point shooting and dunks. The refs are not going to let you play a form of football on hardwood anymore.
Duke had too much offensive firepower. It was was really noticeable. We can all moan-n-groan about this-n-that, but credit those Duke boys, they can hit open looks.
MSU didn't. I recall seeing the stat-line near the end of the game "MSU without a FG in 10 offensive series" or some-such. Well, your offense just can't do that! You're playing Duke! You need to score!
