Weren't you the guy who said last month it was 50-50 that Payne would go pro this spring ?
We can see that this team doesn't have what it takes for B1G season. Typical MSU teams are much further ahead of where this team is and should be. You should be worried if you're not... MSU already has two BAD losses. UCONN is garbage and Miami lost to Florida gulf coast....
He was the best rebounder the league has had in 5 years.
He didn't get all those rebounds on the perimeter, sorry.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
Morgan was a 3. We're talking PF/C here. No one's going to complain about Izzo's wings.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
Now THAT seems like a stretch.
He's talking about playing on the perimeter on offense not defense
I'd say Nix has been a disappointment for his career. But other than that the bigs have been fine for what Izzo has brought in. It takes bigs longer to develop, think of a guy like Suton, was up and down until his last year. Many think Payne will break out this year- he may as Izzo seems to be experimenting with the 2 big rotation still. But overall they have been fine, and if you count PF, Green was a guy who ended up better than everyone thought and was a big contributor as a soph.
Green scored plenty on the block and in the paint.
He was a stretch 4, but he was largely a 4.
Jesus, this is garbage. Nix is horrendous? Do you even watch the games? "Costello, I think he will be a solid player." The verdict is still out on Costello, but I'd love for you to share your insight on what Costello has shown to date to make you think he'll be a "solid player."
You idiots say the same shit every year, including last year (#1 seed, Big Ten Champs, Big Ten Tournament Champs), 2009 (Final 2), and 2010 (Final Four). If you are too stupid to realize that losses in November really don't matter and that Izzo's teams will improve throughout the season, then become a Michigan fan. Or stop watching basketball. Whatever you do, stop posting on here after each loss acting like Izzo magically forgot how to recruit and coach.
Are any of them on this year's team?
Suton wasn't a post player. Green really wasn't either. They both floated around the outside. Morgan was good, but that was a while ago.
Any way you want to slice it, Green was a tweener. Seems obvious to me the OP is talking about true bigs (5s).
"RCMB: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainry." - some dude from MgoBlog
I am more impressed that Kaminski has already been declared a stiff.
Izzo's recruiting is solid. The player development of the bigs in particular is what is lacking.
Banned 12/30/2010 - 1/7/2011 (for not believing in the power of prayer)
Seriously how can Payne an extremely highly ranked 5 star recruit and possible one and done and Nix who was Mr. Basketball be so bad after 7 years in the program combined? There really is an issue with the development of bigs on this team. Can't really argue against it. We haven't had a true big since Suton.
If we don't get Parker, we are in BIG trouble next year.
It had been a wonderful evening and what I needed now, to give it the perfect ending, was a little of the Ludwig Van.
I don't think so, but I'll double check.
They had bad games. They are not bad. They have both shown to be good players. Hang in there. Its one game.
I opened this thread just to post these names. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills sometimes around here.
Did you see Nix in HS ? The guy couldn't play more than 5 minutes without coming out and could barely run. He has come a long way from where he was 4 years ago.
But he was only national player of the year once - demand excellence.
If the OP's going to mention Byrd and Kearny, I think Green should also be mentioned.
Costello is like 4 games into his career, and you want to write him off already?
Nix is a senior and Payne is a junior. Other than a few games here and there over the last 4 years, what have they shown you that makes you think they are good? They have both been MASSIVE flops and have hurt the team constantly with their turnovers. When Payne committed, everyone was talking about how he would be a lottery pick. Right now, neither of them are even good enough to play in Europe.
Payne and Nix both had their moments last season. Ask Sullinger.
Jesus. People have really short memories around here.
