Time for an update!
Wait, I thought Izzo lost interest and has been phoning it in for over a decade now? What's this about not ever taking a day off since Jud was his boss and made him do it?
After grinding out a win against one of the Big Ten's most physical teams in Wisconsin, Tom Izzo gave his players a well-deserved day off. Only, not everybody took it.
Bump because Carty's still an asshole.
Thank you, Denicos.
Bump, Fuck Jim Carty!
Actually a more fitting punishment would be everyone not doing that..
This really needs to be bumped once a month.
Calmer than you are
Has an article ever been written that is more based on pure opinion/wishful thinking, that has been more wrong. Usually these hack writers like their opinions being rehashed and their articles being bumped, even shen they are silly and embarassing. I have a feeling he actually hates that this article still comes up, I cant imagine someone losing that much credibilty over one lazy and ill thought out piece of crap article.
Little did this jack hole know at the time, but Tom Izzo was ahead of the times. Today is all about program perception and media vision. Tom realized early that to build his program to an elite level he had to be visible in the media. Kids had to see the team on ESPN. This program wouldn't be what it is today if Tom didn't allow himself some time to converse with the media. Look at all the big time programs and coaches today. They all make time for media events every year during the season. It's great exposure and great for the program. Carty was, is and always will be a complete moran.
Just read this article again for the first time in over a year...
For the love of Trevor...™
I think this gem from 2007 should also be remembered.
Day-Day as simply a role player. Hahaha!
Editor's note: The conversation between Ann Arbor News columnist Jim Carty and Spartans Insider Steve Grinczel concerning Michigan State recruit Draymond Green continues, with Jim responding to Steve's latest thoughts on the subject. Absolutely no apologies necessary, Steve. As I said in the original response, the back-and-forth over stuff like this is half the fun of sports. Your post certainly...
Izzo will probably always have a top tier program as long as he hangs around. The difference is he now has company at the top of the B1G. How well the company hangs around remains to be seen.
Well we know UM's a flash in the pan. OSU, IU, and UW will be tough for the foreseeable future.

Give the guy credit for ripping on himself.
MSU basketball, due to Izzo, is beyond being a "top tier program as long as he hangs around".
It is ignorant to suggest otherwise.
This is a program. As elite as you get in the B1G.

Look at his history. He's a walverine.
This article from Bill "Huge" Simonson comes close. Sample quotes:
"I have upgraded my prediction from the summer. Michigan is going 14-0. The Wolverines will be national champions this year."
"Barring a Robinson injury, the Wolverines will finish undefeated with a win over Southern California in the BCS title game in Miami."
"Robinson will leave college as another Michigan Heisman trophy winner with a Big Ten and national championship ring."
To be fair, Simonson wrote a follow-up "mea culpa" article after Alabama curb stomped Michigan to open the season.
Some might think I'm crazy tossing the idea around that the Michigan quarterback could pull off the amazing double this season.
8-5 scUM + 7-6 U$C
"We'll play anyone, anyplace, anytime!" - Tom Izzo
Carty was a bit smarter than some. He left journalism and went to law school.
However that column will define his career. Poor bastard.
Darn it, you guys beat me to the bump.
