Oddly, he has Minnesota the conference champ, but puts Michigan at the 1 - how is that possible? And no Wisconsin? they'll at least be an 8/9 team.
Projected Champion: Minnesota
At-large bids: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State
1 - Michigan
2 - Minny
3 - Indiana
5 - MSU

Jerry Palm predicts the teams in the NCAA College Basketball Men's Tournament for CBSSports.com.

Indiana would be one hell of a 3 seed.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
If he flopped Michigan and Indiana I'd agree with him.
I would not want to be the #1 in Indiana's bracket.
Wait until we lose 7 of the next 12. 10 seed?
Thinking the same thing. If we are a 5 seed that is a hell of a season.
I do not see any B1G teams as one seeds. Regular schedule + tourney will weaken the records too much. I would predict something more like this:
I like MSU and IU in the Final 4. Of course it doesn't make sense, but one never knows. Am I a homer....Hell ya.
You crazy. The Big Ten is a lock for a 1 seed. We got a 1 seed last year without a prolific record, and the conference is much stronger this year.
"RCMB: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainry." - some dude from MgoBlog
The Big Ten is the toughest conference. I think the committee will reward the B1G winner with a #1.
Given the remaining schedule, MSU needs to do some serious work to end up as a 4 seed
Rogue Leader= Obese coward who didn't attend MSU and has no college degree
Problem is there are 9 one loss teams, 2 from the B1G. Many of those teams have fairly easy roads to hoe. The B1G has 4 in the top 11 and 6 in the top 25. I think Wisky should be there and Iowa, NW, Purdue, will not be easy road wins. The B1G is tougher this year, but some of the conferences are not as good. If there are still a number of 2 loss teams and the best B1G is a 4 loss team... Unless some team really dominates at the end, which MSU did last year...I do not think it will happen. If Iowa however wins a few close ones, they maybe the leagues eighth team.
Just my feeling all the B1G teams will have at least 4 losses and that there will be enough 1 and 2 loss teams at the end to move the B1G to 2 seeds. My number 1's...Louisville, Kansas, Syracuse/Creighton, and Gonzaga.
Louisville (36) 1591 15-1
2 Indiana (13) 1527 15-1
3 Duke (14) 1501 15-1
4 Kansas (1) 1416 14-1
5 Michigan (1) 1415 16-1
6 Syracuse 1284 16-1
7 Arizona 1205 15-1
8 Gonzaga 1141 16-1
9 Minnesota 1041 15-2
10 Florida 1019 12-2
11 Ohio State 939 13-3
12 Creighton 896 16-1
13 Butler 855 14-2
14 North Carolina State 836 14-2
15 San Diego State 704 14-2
16 Kansas State 670 13-2
17 Missouri 598 12-3
18 Michigan State 426 14-3
19 New Mexico 368 15-2
20 Notre Dame 295 14-2
21 Oregon 238 14-2
22 Virginia Commonwealth 212 14-3
23 Illinois 199 14-4
24 UCLA 185 14-3
25 Marquette 177 12-3

Given the remaining schedule, everyone in the Big Ten has to do some serious work to end up a 4 or better. Everyone's schedule is brutal. EVERYONE.
You're putting way too much stock into overall records. Committee cares more about RPI and SOS. There is zero chance a team like Creighton or Gonzaga gets a 1 seed over the Big Ten's best.
Non-B1G related, but he has UNC getting in as an 11 seed. If UNC doesn't play well enough to earn at least an 8/9 seed, I can't them getting in
Isn't he saying the tournament champion is Minnesota, because thats who the guaranteed tournament bid is for? He says Michigan is an "at large", meaning they could win the B1G, but not win the BTT.
I understand your point, but after what Butler has done the last few years, as well as other non-power conference teams, I think the committee may not feel the same way. Also the B1G has not done well in the tourney lately.
Butler if it runs the table, which it might, could also be a candidate for a #1 this year and who could deny them?

Looking at our schedule I would like to think we could get 9 wins which would put us at 12--6 in the B1G before the tourney. I think that would get us a #4 seed with one win in the tourney.
Hell I maybe wrong, but this shapes up to be a great B1G season; unbelievable B1G tourney then on to the Road. Where I am saying no #1 seeds, I do like the B1G chances to cut the nets finally this year. It is a rigorous schedule
I don't agree at all that Wisky will be left out, but man wouldn't that be sweet? one more annoying thing about them (having a streak at 14 years to our 15 straight with an appearance) we can be done with. Texas may not make it either, which would leave Gonzaga of all schools as the only one left a single year behind us.
We just have to figure out some bad juju for Duke and Kansas so we can have the longest active streak.
If the conference champ from the strongest league can't get a 1 seed, the system is broken.
Gonzaga has no shot at a 1 seed.
