we get it, nothing anyone says otherwise will convince you he is good...I'm guessing you can't wait for him to give up a bunch of goals to Chicago just so you can come bump this "see, see, I was right, HE SUCKS"
enjoy being miserable
Go Bears, Blackhawks, White Sox, and Pioneers.
Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand
I'm sorry you don't like a goalie who plays well and fundamentally. Do you hate goalies who position themselves in the paint properly and have solid angle play?
Did a fundementally sound goalie steal your lunch money growing up?

JImmy won a game 7. There is no taking that away from him. The team did it pretty easy also despite the last couple of minutes. Going in I thought we would lose.
what did you watch...he made a couple difficult saves tonight. you don't stop the puck 31 times with all of them being routine and none difficult. he gave up 1 goal and his own team scored on him once. That's a hell of a performance in a game where the season is on the line.
Umm no its not
The couple semi difficult saves he made were his own fault because he gave up rebounds. He wouldn't have to make hard saves if he simply controlled the rebounds off the first shot
2-1 in game 7s, better than a lot of goalies out there.

I wish I knew anything about actually playing hockey, let alone goalie...
hockey is rough, yet slippery, it's an x-rated game.
Another arm chair goalie heard from....try playing the position once.......if you had you wouldn't be making the second guessing comments you are making.

The key word was respectable, and goalies have made all star games with a similar SV%.
Youre an idiot
Howard's playoff stats are far from legendary. He stepped up in games 5,6 and 7 but he's going to see a lot more pressure from the Blackhawks who have Stan Bowman as GM and his father Scotty as a special advisor. That gives the Blackhawks an advantage the Ducks didn't.
Cope is doing a really good job at proving to those who have actually played goal that he knows nothing about the position. If you think JH made zero difficult saves tonight, you're out of your GD mind. I thought the first goal was soft, but I think he made up for it with a lot of really clutch saves. JH isn't Hasek, but nobody is, and nobody should be. That's not a long-term method for success, unless you're the man himself. Just....stop.
Howard gets a bad rep. All the goals in Game 6 were not his fault. He plays well enough to win, and his save % was higher this year than in 2011-12. We'll see what happens, but he is capable of winning a Cup.
What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
cope$ has been trying to make JH out to the next Manny Legacy. It's funny to watch after every goal that gets past Jimmy right on cue he jumps in w/ a "look at me" or he's at home hoping for the Wings to score 4 goals so he post his ridickulos postseason stat... now, Mutha fuckin' crickets!
Jimmy stepped up and played well the last few games. However that does not make him a great goaltender. If you look at the remaining goalies in the playoffs Quick, Niemi, Crawford, Andersson, Vokoun, (Lundqvist, Holtby, Rask, Reimer take 2 of them) you could make the case that Howard has been the weakest out of the group. The only one you could make the case is Vokoun but he has only played 2 games thus far.
I don't think anyone is debating his greatness in comparison with others. I think we're all saying he's a more than capable goalie, who, with some defense in front of him, could easily back stop this team to a cup. You don't have to be a great goalie to take a team to a cup. The whole point of the thread was that he isn't even a GOOD playoff goalie, which is incredibly false. Out of all the teams left, you could easily make the case that the wings dmen are the worst of the bunch. You put a guy like Howard with Chicago and Crawford would be picking slivers out of his ass all night.
Credit this Detroit series win to three people ...
Henrik Zetterberg, the first-year captain, who had a goal and an assist in Game 7 (along with a regrettable puck over the glass penalty in the third). That’s three goals and five assists for the series, and a game-winning overtime goal in Game 6.
Jimmy Howard, the goaltender, who wasn’t perfect but was really strong when they needed him. He faced over 30 shots in five of the seven games. He faced 70 shots and stopped 65 of them in the final two games of the series. He had to be good behind a young defense. He had to be composed with Corey Perry trying to piss him off for seven games. He did it all.
Mike Babcock, the coach, who shuffled his lines and defense like the best dealer in Vegas. Watching Game 7, the controlled and constricting Wings system kept the Ducks from setting up shot in the offensive zone, with Babcock at the reins. Another brilliant bit of coaching by a coach that never gets enough credit for that brilliance.
From the blog Puck Daddy: They’re still the Detroit Red Wings. Goals by Henrik Zetterberg, Justin Abdelkader and Valtteri Filpula led to a 3-2 victory for Detroit in Game 7 of the Western Conference quarterfinals, eliminating the No. 2-seeded Anaheim Ducks with two straight wins. … Continue reading →
Thank you, Denicos.
It's one series. Relax.
Until he can show me he can 1- steal a game or 2- lead his team past the 2nd round then he's nothing more than an average goalie
Yes because you had to play a position before you can criticize it..
Who knew RCMB had so many retired QBs..
So a 3-2 win on the road in game seven doesn't count as a goalie "stealing a game"?
Does he have to pitch a shutout with 15 amazing saves and 45/45 saves vs shots attempted before you give the guy the benefit of the doubt? Good Lord
