They should start the Wednesday before the final four and end the Sunday before the first NFL regular season game.
You should shut your dumb facehole.

I love soccer, but it needs to know it's place when it can actually compete in the US.
You need to go back to jackin it to the picture of your mom
Trolls are ruining this board
Definitely started too early this year.
I still wish MLS would align with the international calendar and do a Scandinavian-style mid-season break, but as it currently stands, March is too early. They moved it up a month this year, which is good for the quality of play to be together longer, but banging around on a frozen Ohio, Philadelphia, or Denver pitch isn't ideal for player or fan........

Drove from STL to KC for the home opener today. Atmosphere was fantastic. Game was not.
Not sure what the heck you're talking about. Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Iceland all have the same schedule as MLS. I guess you could be talking about Denmark since yes in fact that is part of Scandinavia, but it's also attached to Germany.
When exactly do you want the season to run? Late July to December, and February through May? April/May will just be playoffs. So you add November, half of December, and February to the regular season, while losing half of April, May, June, and half of July from the regular season? That's a lot of lost gate receipts in Toronto, Columbus, Foxboro, etc.
It would be nice theoretically to be on the European schedule but its not feasible. The winter months would make for scheduling nightmares. You would also start your season with college and nfl football and close against nba and NHL playoffs. Actually, even some bigger names in charge of European clubs are talking of moving to a schedule like the MLS. It probably won't happen but they at least see the advantages of getting out of the winter months.
Let the regular season run from early April through Mid August. Minimum 2 games per week. Playoffs start in mid August with a one game elimination with 8 teams. Championship is the Sunday before the first NFL regular season game. I consider myself an average soccer fan. I really don't care about the MLS until march madness is almost over and lose interest once football rolls around.

Going to the Dallas/Houston game today
And the logjam of fixtures that would be created during a World Cup year, or if teams advance far in the US Open Cup, would be a total nightmare.
Do they play for the vampire cup too?

You're right, I think MLS is getting very close. My point, sloppily made, is that MLS still takes far more time off than other leagues and there are leagues that exist in cold-weather countries that somehow manage to make it work. Or heck, look at Mexico's two-part league that does that to avoid the summer. Personally, what I'd like to see MLS do is.....
- Single table - 28 match regular season.
- Season begins in March, runs through December. March games need to be played in reasonable locations. Heck, maybe there is an MLS Fest with multiple games in prospective markets, neutral site games, etc. to start the season. Take an MLS side with CONCACAF players and schedule a game in Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, etc. Some teams may simply get more home games in the summer (Toronto, New England, Chicago, etc.)
- Look at the Belgian Jupiler League for a playoff model -top 6 teams, 10 games home-and-home, fresh table, decides the championship.
- The non-playoff teams go to a different bracket, playing for something because we can't relegate - draft rank, scheduling preference, cap space, straight-up cash to players, etc.
- 4 MLS teams go the CONCACAF Champions League, which begins in March. That means an early camp so find ways to reward those teams (scheduling, travel, more home games, etc.). MLS needs to establish itself as one of two premier leagues in the region, alongside Mexico.
Off the top of my head, these are some ideas, but MLS, both in terms of scheduling and quality, is light-years better than just a few years ago.......
