Wrapped up interviews a short while ago and Appling said the shoulder issue isn't as serious as it initially appeared.
"It's nothing that a little ice and rest won't take care of," said Appling, who suffered the same injury in a home win over Minnesota earlier this year. "Same exact shoulder, same exact thing. It's nothing serious and I should be fine and ready to go."
Appling said the shoulder popped out and immediately popped back in as soon as he stood up.
"I could have come back in the game, but for precautionary reasons our trainers didn't want me to go out there. ... I was just cheerleading for the last few minutes of the game," Appling said. "It was really up to me. They asked me how I felt and I told them I could go back. I was fine with it, but the game was wrapped up so there was no need for me to get back out there."
Lost in this is the fact that Appling was also playing after aggravating the tendonitis in his knee during Thursday's win against Valparaiso. The good news is that Appling will now have six days to recover as MSU is off until Friday. He said he will definitely be ready and that he hopes he doesn't have to wear a shoulder brace, but that remains a possibility.
"I'm struggling but I'm hanging in there, man," Appling said. "We've still got some goals that we want to accomplish as a team, so I've just gotta continue to keep fighting."

"Tis but a scratch....it's just a flesh wound."
We have now set a Big Ten record for number of shoulders pooped out in one season.
Just a warrior.
So no blaming the Nike shoes, I take it???
hoke- to alter or manipulate so as to give a deceptively or superficially improved quality or value.
Head (Trice), shoulders (Appling, Harris), knees (Dawson, Appling) ... toes have stayed mostly healthy this season, though.
Now taking bets on who gets a Toe Injury Friday...
Dan, what is up with Dawson? Just thinking too much??
Way to get us the scoop so quick Dan!!!!!
i only care about spartans --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqsAJQc-NCY
And there's been a pause in the stress fracture epidemic thank god.
The moment is eternal
"What are you, a pansy?"
One of the great movies of all time.
But a mere graze.......Monty Python
Thank you, Denicos.
Izzo was actually pretty pleased with his play today. I saw a different demeanor from Dawson this weekend too. Seemed much more emotional, much more supportive of teammates and played with better energy levels. Didn't come through as much in his play today but I think he's coming around as much as he can given limitations.
Didn't come through as points scored, but definitely came through in terms of rebounds, assists, and D. He played a true team game today, and I was down with that.
Add Kaminsky to shoulders
Shut up. We don't need to tempt the stress fracture gods.

It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
Jesus, fuck you, Gary.
Was Izzo available postgame? Rumor has it he is off to see Tyus Jones
He did the mandatory post-game press conference, and then yes, there was a thread about how he was headed to the Target Center or whatever to see Tyus.
Only Brett Bielema gets toe injuries.
Get off my lawn.
He did his standard postgame press conference and hustled out afterward. Normally he does a separate interview session with local media in the locker room during the NCAA Tournament but didn't do that tonight.
Pooped out shoulders? Sounds painful.
thanks Dan, I am a hoops junkie and I appreciate your work. I really enjoy the practice updates and your own insights with you being around the team so much. Keep up the good work, I bet it is a blast this time of year.
btw I am sure I missed the discussion but any word on the doughboy debate in the huddle. Just curious as to what caused it. Glad to see Nix being assertive both on and off the floor. Senior urgency!!
That must be painful to deal with and probably takes away some of his game. It seems like shoulder injuries reoccur often once you get it popped the first time. Lets hope that it never happens again for Keith or Garry.
Before Appling was hurt, he had a towel thrown at him by Nix, his teammate since high school, in a heated huddle during a timeout.
"It was just miscommunication with the ball screen and stuff, so we went at it,'' Nix said. "That's my best friend. I love him to death. I treat him like a little brother. We're over it. We won the game and let it go.''
Appling said the argument helped bring the team together.
"We can fight, but at the end of the day, we all love each other,'' he said.
