When comparing it to a NC...not really.
Did World Wide Wes get a ring too?
Why is that?
How can you be so sure I'm not doing that right now?
Don't post poop!
Would you trade 10 straight season of those results for last years title?
Not how Cal is doing it, but in an even semi-legit way... yes.
Jesus fucking Christfucks, if people want to freak out. LET THEM. Really frustrating loss on Wed on top of a torturous football season and we are really fucking sick of the look like shit early, look like shit during the B1G and let every single team hang around so the fans/players never get a second to exhale and then magically (maybe) pull something out of your ass in March script.
The big man recruiting is not panning out, it is completely inarguable. Payne looked like Wilt for stretches vs Oakland and then just totally disappears. Nix and Payne completely got DESTROYED by that African cat from L'Ville in the tourney. Injuries have been a massive factor when it comes to the bigs, no doubt. From Peplowski all the way to Payne, every guy has been damaged goods in some way or another before we got them on campus. Throw Kaminski in there too I guess.
When are we going to look like a legit top 5 team and steamroll some fuckers? When you have an Elite coach and program that is expectation. That's the plan for next year right? Can we actually do that next year or will it be another grinder where we piss away a ton of early games?
Now, am I really that concerned? No. Payne will come around as will Costello, Nix can still bulldog 90% of college bigs, The rotation is still in flux and the team is flat out worn out. The B1G is completely stacked though, we'll need all the types of breaks Michigan got last year to even get a sliver of the title and that may be too optimistic of a view. Quite frankly 10-8 is not a very bad year considering how good the rest of the B1G looks. Probably going to lose 5 out of 6 to OSU, IU, M (I'm just going to assume we play everybody 2x even though that is not true) Probably going to split with Illinois (as we ALWAYS lose @ ILLINI) and Wisky... if you win everything else that is 11-7. now we may win 2 or 3 of those games I said we'd lose... but we'll also likely not run the table on everybody else. Minny is tough as hell this year and NU and Purdue are decent.
Marriage is like flying with kids, if the flight had 500 connections, never ended, Ted Striker were your pilot and you ate the fish.
Et Tu Pylon?
Can't even start a clearly facetious thread without everyone going all
Bad comparison if you want to compare fans freaking out. Kentucky fans are the most lunatic fans out there. They forced a national championship coach in Tubby Smith out.
Nope, he doesn't want to compare fans freaking out.
I really tired of watching Appling get worn down to a little nub and get let down, not picked up by his teammates.
I really fear he's going to be the guy that breaks 'every 4 year player has played in a final four' streak through zero fault of his own.
This Stauskas fucker flying out of the blocks @ M is complete salt in the wounds of Byrd not being healthy OR able to hack it.
Would you care to comment on my post at all or just act like you've been stabbed?

Dude. Seriously. Calm yourself. Do I really need to address your points one by one?
Here, let me google that for you:
Interesting hypothetical. If winning last years natty means the other final fours, BIG titles go way and I would say no.
People can freak out all they want but you must admit some of it is way over the top. When they start ripping players and Izzo, it bothers me. I've posted this before but it bears repeating:
This 14 year run by Tom Izzo will NEVER be duplicated at MSU. Would I like another National Title? Of course but I'm not going to push the full blown panic button when we lose a game in November. People need to settle down and enjoy this incredible stretch of colleg basketball.
Wtf? Stop living in 2005. That hasn't been the script for years. Look like shit in B10 play? We've won 3 of the last 4 B10 titles. Izzo's regular seasons have recently been the strongest since the Flintstones era.
The bottom line to me at this point in our program, is do I think Izzo can win another national championship at MSU? I think so, but it's really hard to win them. Izzo has raised those stakes to that level, though, where everything the program does is looked at as whether we will have another national title or not.
Despite all he has accomplished, fans and Izzo himself with be unsatisfied if Izzo doesn't get another title before he's done. Everyone will recognize the greatness of Izzo obviously if we do not do it, but that second title from Izzo would mean so much to everyone -- Izzo, the program, the fans.
His coaching window is getting smaller and with the changes sweeping college sports, there is some uncertainty there as well. It sucks to me knowing that he would have likely won another one in 2009 with a healthy Roe and would have won one in 2010 with a healthy Lucas. We were so close. Hopefully we can get there.
Why do so many on here have such selective memory? Izzo has never had a flat out superior to all team. The closest team to that I'd say was the 2000-2001 season who still lost in the final four. Izzo's national championship team battled injury (Mateen) poor shooting by a "supposedly" lights out three point shooter (Mike Chappell) and a poor early season record (entering B1G play at 9-4 and a loss to the Wright State Warriors).
Why the FUCK do people keep expecting things to be different. I'm not saying you should be happy about early season loses but for gods sake, if you haven't gotten use to it by now you never will. Relax, stop freaking out, and know your past so you stop expecting an outcome that isn't realistic.
THIS IS IZZO OUT OF CONFERENCE MSU BASKETBALL. IT HASN'T CHANGED SINCE 1995 AND ISN'T GOING TO. GET USED TO IT OR FIND ANOTHER TEAM TO ROOT FOR.
A Spartan Today, A SPARTAN FOREVER. Through thick and thin, low and high water I strive to be the best Spartan ever.
Miami is no Wright State.
It's an analogy. I'll simplify it for you.
(1) The Wildcats lost ugly to an inferior opponent on the road in November. The Wildcats are, nonetheless, a good basketball team and a solid basketball program.
(2) The Spartans lost ugly to an inferior opponent on the road in November. The Spartans are, nonetheless, a good basketball team and a solid basketball program.
Nigel is suggesting that some posters (not you) should calm down by pointing out that early, ugly November losses occur at the best programs sometimes. It's an analogy.
Our fanbase has too many people who are fans of winning rather than fans of basketball. Too many have zero understanding of the process and just expect to win every game by 25 points. There were people bitching about the way the Kansas game went. It's ridiculous.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
Where am I blasting Izzo? Some shit flat out needs to be done/approached differently. That is all. The script is beyond tired.
I was commenting on trading our "Duke" like year of last year (win your conference and go down in the tourney embarassingly in the S16 or sooner) Not being anything to be that chest thumpingly excited about.
The S16 is really the worst result you can have as a 1 seed. I mean, like 95% of all 1 seeds make the S16.
Izzo is the shit. End of story. Doesn't mean he's infallible. Doesn't mean I can stomach another kick to the stones from MSU sports right now. I really love that it sounds like Byrd's getting less time and way more importantly the Nix and Payne together lineup will be mostly a thing of the past.
I know we lose early because Izzo is building something for late the season and his weird rotations and very complex offense (which is hardly worth a shit until all the counters are in later in the year) and willingness to give up the 3 to take away the easy 2s makes you very vulnerable early and especially vs teams that can shoot. Doesn't mean it won't drive me nucking futs. Doesn't mean I don't know it's usually paying off several fold in March/April.
The point is there is obviously extenuating circumstances on both teams. Anyone that doesn't see that, well, don't know what to tell you.
One Night! One team! Kill blue! Bleed Green!
I never said you blasted Izzo but otheres here certainly have. You make good points, Pylon, but I wouldn't trade 14 years of sustained greatness for last years Natty. Especially winning the Kentucky/ Cal way.
Seriously, some of the people on the board are unbelievable.
Bottom line (for me personally) Is that I'm really worn down on everything being a god damn slugfest, especially against flat out inferior teams. I'm even more tired of people being bashed on here for venting or expressing legit criticisms.
Again, winning in Nov/Dec and March/April are not mutually exclusive.
Is the loss to Miami a really big deal? No. Is it another dick punch? Yes.
Never said 14 years. Why would I trade one title for another? Or the 3 straight final fours.
I was in Atlanta for the E8 in 2001 and the Big Ten Tourney 2000-2005 (missing only 2002), I've seen a lot of Spartan hoops, wouldn't really trade any that success for anything last year (although Day Day getting a ring would have been huge).
Doesn't mean we can't evolve, or that when we strike out on a guy in recruiting that we have to pretend we haven't struck out.
