Dude's a winner.
Is it me or did it look like every one of his passes in the highlights came off of play action?
Play action? I'm not familiar with this play.
You know who
RGIII = Wally Pipp

Just destroyed them with that naked bootleg all day. Probably won't be so easy next time when the opponent has film on it, but Cousins can beat you in the pocket too.
"RCMB: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainry." - some dude from MgoBlog
I watched the whole game and Cousins played really well. Certainly looked like a very capable backup who will have very good trade value for the Redskins in the future. Some team is going to give him a starting look eventually just based off of his game vs. Cleveland.
What was interesting was seeing Cousins do things well that he didn't necessarily do as well at MSU....Like check down to his third and fourth reads. I think that's what comes when you trust your offensive line to protect you. Cousins never really had an effective offensive line at MSU.
I liked this quote from KIrk in the WaPo - "If I die tomorrow, I can say I started a game in the NFL and we won." Big surprise - Kirk believes in life after death.
i fricking love that play kirk used to run. He hit BJ with a long td against Indiana one year. They ran that a few times. Announcers kept talking about how it takes balls to pull that off (ok they said guts but still) as he's walking with his back to the defense for a bit. If they don't buy the fake he's getting NAILED. Glad to see Kirk do well, hopefully he continues to play well and gets a shot somewhere.
The first time MSU basketball aired in France the French surrendered to Tom Izzo just to be safe.
Kirk was a great, great QB. People act like he was playing with superstars at MSU and blame our current crop of receivers instead of Maxwell.
The only other legit NFL receiver Kirk has played with was Keshawn Martin, and Keshawn is in the league for his rushing/returning/slot skills, not necessarily the deep passing or even mid-level game.
Really hope to see O'Connor or even Terry next year.
"Tonight, we show the world what this program is made of!" -- Brian Ellerbe on Mar 4, 2000, the night of scUM's 51-point loss to MSU.
I'm not trying to knock Cousins. I was pointing out an area that I thought his game has really grown since his time at MSU.
Just saw an LA times article with the headline "Is Kirk Cousins too good to be a backup?". Says theres several teams that could be looking for starters in the off season and that this draft is thin at qb. On mobile so can't grab the link.
I live in Virginia and turned on the local postgame show. Although they spoke many good things, they were very critical of Cousin's mistakes. What QB doesn't make mistakes in a game? But he's not RG3, who they can't get enough of here, They seem at least appeased with the draft pick, but much of the talk is to try to trade Cousins for a 1st or 2nd round pick.
It's the NFL.. if you're not 14-0 people are bitching about what's wrong

Why did you only include It's the NFL?
There is quite a lot of ignorance on here recently. We ran a lot of play action with Cousins here. Cousins is great out of the shotgun as well, so we ran alot of that too.
But we largely went away from it this year with Maxwell. Some of it can be attributed to our O line not giving time for the PA to work itself out, but it didn't seem like it was given much of a chance in the offensive game plan.

That's a shame, 'cause RGIII can't do that!
Our present qb can't do it.
Keeping the sunshiners in check since 2000.
No matter what he did, people would have bitched. Run something too much, he's an idiot. Don't run it enough, he's an idiot.
All it leaves is running something just the right amount which he couldn't manage to do.
When your WRs don't catch the ball, your QB doesn't make the throws, and your o-line doesn't block, it severely limits your ability to execute your game plan.
I think you are selling Cousins short. Every time he steps on the field he shows he is the best option at QB for Washington from a football standpoint. He seems to be a perfect fit for the Redskins offense. With Griffin, it seems as though the Skins are always handicapped in the passing game, but they have done a great job utilizing RGIII's spectacular athleticism to offset his limitations at reading defenses and passing accuracy. I suspect the Shanahan's are well aware of that, and really don't want Kirk to leave. But, from a PR standpoint, replacing RGIII would be a total nightmare for the entire organization.
