This year's big challenge for the Dec. 26 tilt at Ford Field, because of NCAA sanctions barring Ohio State and Penn State from postseason play, is that the Big Ten conference does not have enough bowl-eligible teams to supply an opponent to face a Mid-American Conference (MAC) team.
Therefore, instead of featuring a Big Ten team like Michigan State with its 6-6 record, the LCP Bowl -- which contractually can't be as choosy as most of the other 35 bowl games -- will be selecting from less-prestigious football programs with names like Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky or Louisiana Tech.
For future years, the outlook is better yet, he said. The addition of Rutgers and Maryland, plus the returns of Ohio State and Penn State from probation, should assure that the Big Ten has plenty of bowl-eligible teams to place one in the Little Caesars game in future years.
Every year, it seems, Detroit's college football bowl game faces a new challenge.
I would expect that MTSU fans to travel fairly well. Partly because there are a ton of transplants here from the auto industry, and partly because there are a ton of transplants from TN to MI due to the better days of the auto industry.
If I were the LCP Bowl, id snag MTSU if possible. WKU might not be a bad pick either, for the same reason.
If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day.
Yeah alright I'll see you guys there
Hey, there will probably be more offense with Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky or Louisiana Tech than there would be with MSU playing in that game.
