Good response. Thanks for taking the time to write that.
I think there is probably a smart way to combine our two visions.
There may be an MSU Alum high up in Brand Jordan but the guy leading it is Larry Miller. He went to Temple.

UM. They think they're a nationally relevant program, but they're not. Over the past 15 seasons, Wisky has been every bit as good as UM, maybe even better because they've actually won Rose Bowls, but even they're not considered 'national'. OSU is the only program in the B1G that is nationally relevant, everyone is JV.

Some of you people are so gdamn insecure. We're doomed to return to the middle of the Big Ten?
Urban is unfortunately a force, but I'm sick of our own damn fans in effect anointing Brady Hoke a savior and that Michigan is 'back' before they have even earned it.
I AM KIND, SMART, POWERFUL, BEAUTIFUL, TERRIFIC, AND TREMENDOUS
That's an insult to women everywhere.
Thank you, Denicos.
Did you forget we rebranded just a few seasons ago? It was a comprehensive rebrand. It was exactly like what we've seen at Mizzou, Arizona State, Oregon State, Washington State, Utah State, and countless others. Just because we didn't get the obligatory black uniforms that turn us into college sports clichés, it's not good enough?
Nike tried going agressive, they changed our sacred Spartan helmet logo and everyone HATED it. Our basketball uniforms have kept up with the latest template changes, our football team got the chrome helmets. I have to believe Hollis and Nike will be working to continue rolling out things like this in the coming seasons. What more could you want to see?
It's been stated in this thread and I'll say it again: Oregon didn't just change their look and–BOOM– become a Top 10 team. It took time. It also took lots, and lots of money from people like Phil Knight– people we don't just have waiting to make it rain outside Jenison Fieldhouse.
Uniforms aren't all of it either; Maryland is a pretty clear example of that. Sure they got their mention on PTI or First Take or whatever, but do you know what got more people talking? Little Giants.
Uniforms, even hideous ones with black stripes and chromed-out helmets, will only take you so far.
Option 86: Become the I dont give a F about what you think school......Act cocky , talk shit, back it up like Izzo. Stop taking crap from Radio , tv, and puke ass High school kids.
How bout we just stick with turning out high character kids who become leaders and contributors to their communities while enjoying their stories of development and growth.
Under Armour is not Nike, let's not kid ourselves here.
Only if they are wearing really cool uniforms.
Nothing wrong with "Going Oregon" as long as the OP has a billionaire booster lined up to be Mr. Knight and that doesn't mean success. Maryland has the UnderArmor founder with no great mprovement.
Don't worry guys, I just graduated from MSU and I'm on my way to becoming one of the richest men in the world. Once that happens I'll dump fuck tons of money into MSU athletics because the success of our football program is the most important thing in my life.
Who are these ladies and gentlemen you speak of?
I might be in the minority here, but our alternate uniforms, the white with the green shoulders, are ridiculously ugly IMO. Those were Brandon Inge stepping up to the plate, huge swing, huge miss. Now that Nike has given UCF the same font that just takes away more.
I think the OP is saying Hollis needs to be in Nike's ear saying, "You have something new you want to test out? We'll give it a shot and try it." The 14-18 year old kids getting recruited love different uniforms and recruiting is where it starts. Just look down the road, word is that scum bball recruits have been drooling over those neon piss uniforms they have been wearing and even die hard alum fans cant stand them. It might sound dumb but uniforms have some big pull in these kids eyes. And comparing Under Armour to Nike is just dumb.
I hate to break it to you, but UM is a national brand regardless of how their football team does. It's very similar to ND. They have too many alums in the media pushing the brand for them to ever go away.
I like this thread....change with the times. With the media the way it is, FB, Twitter....you can't change those items you either adapt to them or you die. Hollis needs to run the University like a business and continue to reassess and course correct. I'm in.
Some good discussion. The local landscape is getting tougher. ND is playing in a National Championship. OSU has the Urb's - and is very competitive. And while we like to rip on Hoke, he seems understand the "UM Brand".
The MSU football had some momentum while those programs were in the dumpster. This truly is a key moment in MSU program. There is precious little margin of error.
For example, MSU cannot afford to play a QB who doesn't have his shit together. Play well, or sit your ass on the bench. MSU cannot afford to have WR's dropping passes. Catch the ball, or sit your ass on the bench. MSU cannot afford to have keystone kops field goal attempts. Coaches need to coach these kids, or get demoted.
All that matters is what happens on Saturdays, period. Since MD has been here, those have gone a lot better for us.
WOW, just WOW about the number of dweebs in this thread who have completely no clue about MSU, it's history and what wins...
Hmmm, let me check the records.... Oh yea, who's won the most recent Natty Champs... Who? What kind of Fb do they play... hmmm How many has O won?
May your Grandmothers piss on your socks....
Nίκη για MSU
We need Nike to put a midwest operations center here in Lansing first of all. We already have the good "chron", just add the revolving uniforms and bring jls back (need a ringleader if you are going to start a circus). Bingo...Oregon lite...profit???
"losing Caleb Benenoch is a blow that Dantonio will never recover from. Izzo has lost it as well. Hoke and Beilein own the state."
The bandwagon fans thinks their brand IS the football program. In their minds, it's everything UM represents. If the football team continues on it's path of one conference title every 8 years and a .5 NC every 60, and continually losing in bowl games against the elite teams, then they'll fall off the bandwagon once they get it that the UM record isn't as good as they think they are and aren't really part of the CF elites.
Or you could be right and the bandwagoners will stay in their delusional state. Come to think of it, being a bandwagon UM fan is sorta like believing in religion, so you're probably right. F 'em.
tRCMB could open a Paypal account and raise this in a few hours if we were given assurances that it would be used correctly.
Lol are you all fucking hipsters? Lets be all pretty and trendy so everyone on twitter and Facebook notice us. Fuck off. Hollis is pushing our brand and it's working out just fine. We are still trying to recover from the dark days and our state is taking notice of that as we have attracted more fans and established our name in the country. New uniforms and hash tags are not going to get us shit. Blow it out your ass you fucking women this is MSU and we will fight for every inch like it was out last breath.
To die in ann arbor is redundant
