Lunardi is trash, he's ranked like 36th in bracketologists, he's pretty solid at getting the right teams in, like most of these guys...but in terms of seeding he's become a train wreck.
Gotta love Palm's bracket:
We get Auburn Hills and Los Angeles. Our path (by seed) would be:
Montana (hi, Jud!)
They look scared now.
That would be fantastic.
No doubt being the 3 seed that gets to go West with the Zags and New Mexico is living large.
Yup. Gonzaga will probably never see the regional final. Louisville is probably the only team I'd really wouldn't want to see until the Final Four.
THIS, I love too.
Holy shit, yes
OSU vs VCU in the round of 32? That'd be a sick game
tRCMB - Where MSU fans eat their own.
I'd call it OSU 65, VCU 53. VCU turns the ball over 24 times.
People in love with VCU's pressure don't realize that VCU isn't a particularly good team offensively, even off the turnovers.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
That! That right there!
I WANT IT!
The committee freely admits they use the polls as part of their process. It's not the only thing, but they do use them.
Sounds like Louisville has secured the overall #1. They earned it. now it's Louisville in Indy, Gonzaga in LA, Indiana in D.C. and Kansas in Arlington. The one thing that could change is Miami. not sure if they would knock IU or KU out. should be Gonzaga, but we know that won't happen.
I really think we're going to get the 3 in the west. that would be awesome.
I'd pump the brakes on that. Lunardi's the only one saying so, and he's wrong pretty often.
IU has better wins than Louisville and won the best league in America. They're still a strong contender for that spot.
Thats by far the hardest region. Why does Kansas deserve a two seed and we don't?
A very complicated formula called the HML Index*.
* How Many Losses (Kansas 5, MSU 8)
Big 12 regular season and tournament champs.
In what the 5th best conference in the country? Im sorry they played 0 teams that were as good as Indiana or Ohio State.
Thinking about it though I would rather see Louisville in the elite 8 than the final four. Izzo's reputation for winning the second game of the weekend speaks for itself. This is rough though because the only teams that really make me nervous are Louisville and Miami.
Well, they did beat OSU in Columbus.
I preface this by saying that lunardi has no fucking clue on the matchups and the regions in his bracketogy bullshit and that a monkey in a tutu could predict 64 out of 68 teams. All that being said, if Louisville does indeed get Indy over Indiana then OSU or us will likely be on the other side of that bracket. But I still have a hard time believing Indiana won't be the #1 in the Indy bracket.
Big 12 is not that far down the list. Big Ten and Big East are the top 2.....ACC probably 3rd, but they suck pretty bad this year. and then the Big 12. ACC has two very good teams in Duke and Miami, but NC State and UNC are mediocre and everyone else is shit. Big 12 has KU, then two more in KSU and Okie light, and then ISU and Oklahoma in the NCSU/UNC level. You could argue overall they are slightly better and put the Big 12 3rd. kind of a toss up.
Pac-12 and SEC are definitely below them. And i don't care what anyone says, the A-10 and MWC are not in the top 3 either.
The Pac 12 wasn't as bad as a conference as I thought they would be. The SEC is atrocious. I agree except I would flip the Big 12 and ACC.
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi had his worst year since we began intently tracking his picks in 2009. For the third year in a row, he missed nailing the field, despite this being the only thing he focuses on at ESPN all year. He had Virginia Tech, St. Mary’s and Colorado in. While 65-out-of-68 would be a score to cheer about on a math test … it’s not very good here.Clearly, the first year of the tournament’s expansion hurt Lunardi (though, to be fair, no media prognosticator correctly nailed the field). Then again, we’re talking about a guy who had Michigan State vs. Gonzaga in the title game back in his November preseason predictions.
The NCAA tournament committee is just screwing with Seth Greenberg now, right? Virginia Tech, thought to be a lock for the NCAA tournament, was snubbed again.
Haters gonna hate!
