Bell was not going to improve his draft stock even with a 2000+ rushing season if he came back because there are questions about his burst and the thought he takes too long to get up to speed.
Sometimes kids go early because of having a child, financial troubles etc but Bell made the right decision to go to the NFL unless he was going to magically start running 4.4's.
Gotta agree with BOG on this one. Many have said that Bell would not improve his draft stock by coming back. I don't know if that's true (for example, if he showed improved yardage and "visibility" to hit holes with an improved OL), but it's doubtful he would worsen his stock, unless he was injured (but if one used argument, no one would ever stick around in college because injury is always a possibility). When players leave early, I can be personally happy for them, but it DOES damage the program. Think how totally dominating we would've been had Worthy stuck around for his senior year. He alone may have been worth 1-2 more wins. Bottom line is that loyalty and commitment to the team are what separates elite programs from the rest-- unless you are Alabama, which is really an NFL farm team.
These recruits are not stupid, as your point suggests. They would like our Program just as much if Will Gholston said he was staying to play his final season of eligibility. In fact, they would like it even more knowing that there must be something served at the training table to get our players to stay for another year when they could have turned professional. The key fact here is, not what you say, but that recruits know players from our Program could have been drafted. He doesn't have to actually leave. Dughhhhhh.
It doesn't bother you that the thug, Taylor Lewan, at SCum is staying in school for his last year and passing up millions all for the right reasons. You don't think that helps SCum's Program tremendously?
You must have a problem with authority to declare anything I say to be an "old man rant." I can't help you with that personal problem as I'm an attorney, not a psychiatrist, but I might report you to a Mod and get you suspended for ageism. You're being discriminatory. But if you promise not to do it any more on this Board or any where else on the Internet, I won't report you. Promise?

I am compelled to agree. Well said.
"Our top 2014 DE targets like us because Gholston left early". Where in recruiting dorkville could you come up with something so stupid?
Even if what you say is true you why would I want to trade a senior college player for a Facebook like from a 16 year old "target"
No need to shhh and keep this on the hush hush it looks like you have some real premium content there.
First of all, players leaving early does not damage the program. Second, how many touchdowns would Worthy have scored this year?
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
Not sure if you're joking.
Guaranteed. He's not joking and he's 100% correct.
jebus you sound OLD brah....don't make me REPORT you for being old and pooping your depends
Piece of advice for everybody in this thread: My RCMB experience improved immensely when I started ignoring BoG. Might be worth your while to do the same.
So hey, how about that OC position?
BillOGoods, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for reading this. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
BillOG thinks anyone cares what he thinks. -1 for absconding with a thread about possible OCs.
May your Grandmother piss on your socks.
Nίκη για MSU
+1 to that
Well, I kind of like where BOG is coming from.
I think he is wrong about Bell. Running backs get chewed up and spit out in the NFL. I think the average career is like 3 years. If he had an awesome senior season then the best case scenario for him is that he could move up a full round. But the clock is ticking and there is no sense in him taking that risk.
Gholston and Sims, however ....
Their decisions are questionable. I just wish being a Spartan meant more to them, especially after all the grief the program took on their behalf.
Ummmmmm. In all due respect, I didn't "abscond" with the thread. Check back on page one. ErnieMac, I believe, asked me to explain myself and did.
By the way, do you think anyone cares what you think? If anyone thinks no one cares what they think, why do they ever post on this Board at all?
When you explain what is meant by "OLD brah" maybe we can then decide if the rest of your post makes any sense. And don't be involved in ageism. You're creating a hostile environment on this Board that's unlawful. It could get you banned by a Mod. That's just a friendly head's up.
How has this troll not been banned yet?
Funny people say the same about you.

ok gramps....keep fighting the good fight: in your DEPENDS of course
Right back at ya Ross
I'm confused. I thought you were ignoring "BoG"*?
By the way, if you're ignoring me, that's okay, but you need to know that BOG and any confusingly similar expression are the exclusive property of BillOGoods Productions, LLC, a Michigan limited liability company, hereafter the "Company," and any unauthorized use or reproduction without the express written permission of the Company is strictly prohibited. However, to my on-line friends here at the RCMB, I'm giving you a limited license to use "BOG," not "BoG," and BillOGoods in posts on this Board. I've arranged to have this limited license extended to you all at no extra charge.
I knew you didn't know that Bluth, so I just thought, as an RCMB friend, I'd give you a heads up about it before any formal action was taken by my multi-national holding Company to enforce its intellectual property.
Wow you're a pretty bad lawyer if you think that statement works....
Losing a couple guys to the NFL early will not kill the program. For some it works out (Worthy), some I don't think it did (Baker). These are kids chasing their dream.
That all said, I do hope to see more stability on offense. It does seem MSU is losing guys regularly that aren't 1st, or even 2nd round material. Baker was a big ? when he left. Sim could have benefited from a healthy senior year. Bell I understand - he took some punishment last year. Still, losing him stings.
Funny how an article where Bell discusses the OC position and this debate gets sparked.
