Haven't seen this mentioned yet, but saw it on the freep's site...
I suddenly find myself concerned about my blackness.
That last line is quite the dig.
I lol'd at the last line. Also, I'm going to hell.
Remind yourself. Nobody built like you, you design yourself.
"It gets worse. I have no natural rhythm, no criminal record, and can correctly pronounce the word "ask." I don't curse nearly as much as I ought to. Oh, and I went and married my baby mama."

Thanks for posting. I'm glad someone who has a national audience called Wob out. WDIV should be ashamed that they still employ that loser.
Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read. - Groucho Marx
"Poor Frederick Douglass has a double whammy. He was a Republican and had a white wife. Who'd have thought this former slave, one of the towering heroes of African-American history, wasn't black enough?
"It is this kind of bold insight and trenchant analysis ESPN loses in sacking Rob Parker. What is the network thinking?"
Thank you, Denicos.
This should win an award.
I mean, I listen to Bruce Springsteen, for crying out loud! There's even a Dixie Chicks album on my iPod. Should I download more James Brown and Al Green to save my, ahem, soul?
And I read books sometimes, man -- even when no one's making me do it. Some of them are thick as bricks. Some aren't even about African-American themes.
It gets worse. I have no natural rhythm, no criminal record, and can correctly pronounce the word "ask." I don't curse nearly as much as I ought to. Oh, and I went and married my baby mama.
Obviously, my blackness is on life support.
The guy is priceless. He'd be a welcome addition to Detroit sports media if he ever foolishly chose to work here
Oh no he di'int

The Free Press at least used to run his columns a lot. On their website they always drew a ton of comments, mostly negative.
i think mr pitts fits quite nicely into the category that silly wob was attempting to delineate.as a white guy i will never know and neither will any of you other whiteys.
"You can't be black if you are a Republican? That means Colin Powell isn't black. Neither, if published reports are to be believed, are rappers LL Cool J and 50 Cent. Who'd have thought?
And if you can't be black and have a white significant other ... wow. There goes -- what? half? 90% -- of all the brothers in the NBA."
I loved this op-ed when I read it yesterday, still do. Mr. Pitts would never make it here in Detroit though. He'd get run out of town by the City Council for telling Detroiters you don't have to be ghetto to be black.
That was Parker's fault: he bought into the idea that if you're an African American then you need to be ghetto black. Silly boy.

The Freep has "re-printed" Pitts piece in their Opinion section.
Looks like Parker burned that bridge too.
As previously mentioned, the Freep used to run Pitts' columns quite regularly. I remember reading many of them when I had daily delivery back in college.
That last graf is the best closing I have read in a sports-related article in a while. NAILED IT!
What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
