Memphis for beating the best team they faced all year yesterday....
It was one hell of a win for their program. Pastner's first NCAA Tournament win.
They won a game without cheating (maybe)!
Per RPI, that's actually accurate.
St. Mary's was 28 or 29 in the RPI.
Memphis' only wins against top 50 RPI teams were 3 wins v. non-tournament team Southern Miss, who was ranked 30.
Also true per Ken Pom.
St. Mary's ranked 19, Memphis best wins, again were 3 v. So. Miss ranked 59 in his rankings.
Sat near a few old, white, rich grandma boosters who were chearing for "their" black boys. Saying, "thats mine right there!" referring to Jackson, crawford, etc. Soooo I'm sure a few Benji's have been thrown their way...
Best team they faced: No, that would be Louisville. Best team they have beaten: Yes.
It was just a mistake;
I didn't mean to let them take away my soul.
Am I too old?
Is it too late?
I live in Memphis and I can tell you, people here are obsessed with Memphis basketball like this board is with all things Michigan.
I like Pastner, glad to see him get a win. I hope he enjoys his summer vacation starting sunday.
The first time MSU basketball aired in France the French surrendered to Tom Izzo just to be safe.
I don't think Memphis can really control how good the teams they play are.
No, but at the same time you shouldn't be talking shit about how great you are for going 30-4 when you really only beat 1 "good" team (Harvard).
That's called your non-conference SoS. Memphis had 66, which is pretty respectable - it's in the top fifth of hoops. Granted, they know their conference would be shit, so they probably could have done more.
Compare that to MSU, who know their conference would be ungodly, and still went out and dropped a noncon 52 SoS.
Josh Pastner has never beaten a ranked team during his 4 year tenure at Memphis.
Memphis fans are claiming the Saint Mary's win as his first
What are you even saying? They beat 11th ranked St. Mary's!
Are they even ranked? I didn't see them in the AP so maybe they are like in the 20s in the coaches poll.
St. Mary's is #25 in one poll and unranked in the other. Memphis fans are grasping at straws because they've literally beaten nobody this year. Their schedule is way worse than Gonzaga's. I think Southern Miss was their best regular season win.
SMC being #25 is the dumbest thing ever. Beating a 7 seed creighton and losing to Gonzaga 3 times earns you that? That would make us like 4th in the NBA's pacific division.
No, doubt, I was just supporting the OP's original notion and adding that St. Mary's was probably the best team Memphis beat this season.
Not ranked in final AP Poll, Ranked 25 in final coaches poll
Ever heard the term "Pride comes before the fall"?
I get where you are going with this but Memphis and Michigan are the only two programs to vacate multiple Final Fours. I don't and won't respect either of them, ever. Both programs shouldn't even be allowed to compete in the Dance after vacating their second Final Four.

"losing Caleb Benenoch is a blow that Dantonio will never recover from. Izzo has lost it as well. Hoke and Beilein own the state."
This board will melt down after our game tomorrow. Tigers by 7.
See you Saturday.
We also don't give a damn about any Wolverine "fans" on our bandwagon. We don't need it.
You will never be heard from again after tomorrow.
We beat you tomorrow in your home state, a team from a "shit" conference, thugs, undisciplined, streetballers, etc.
You guys will be on suicide watch.
See you Saturday.
