MSU however has made up for that by getting kids out of Illinois and of course, as always, Ohio.
But no doubt the loss of Enos is a prime reason.

Scrap the program.
To bad he never used all that OL knowledge to produce first rounders while he was at MSU.
nuck, nuck, nuck.....
I would have settled for mid-rounders.
I would have settled for late-rounders.
I would have settled for Kate Upton
That's not settling, unless you include the effects of gravity on the world's most spectacular breasts.

Personally I am very concerned, signing day is right around the corner.
Dip in the instate recruiting was due to fewer Div I prospects. But thanks anyway.
Couldn't have anything to do with no immediate PT available now unlike when Enos was around either.
Kate Upton is a Walmart Wolverine. No self respecting Spartan should be lusting over her.
Is it too early to nominate for dumbest post of 2013 and also, EVER!?

I think the depth that MSU amassed in 2010, 2011, and 2012 has something to do with it. Overall, recruiting is fine. We hit a rough patch here and there. Every program goes through it.

It's not even a rough patch, honestly. We're arguably recruiting better than ever. So far we have a great head start with some top notch guys like Allen, Smith, Durkin, and Drake. This fanbase loves to melt down over every recruit we lose but looking at the big picture, the 2014 class is shaping up to be one of our better ones.
Looking at the star-studded 2009 class (10 4-stars) and tell me how that turned out compared to the 2010 class (1 5-star, 4 4-stars). We're in freaking May and people are already panicking. How about we look at the guys we didn't even get until 2-3 months before signing day.
2009 commits after November: Freeman, Gainer, Sims, Muma, Conway, Drone, J. Jones
2010 commits after November: Burkland, Bell, Langford, Wilson, ARW, Palazeti, Dennard
Some pretty solid contributors on that list, huh? Including a couple who are already in the NFL...
The state hasn't exactly been producing a lot of great talent. Seems past few years there might be 7-8 high-qualify prospects and then a significant drop off.
When the pie shrinks it's reasonable MSU will get proportionally smaller piece. Enos was a good recruiter, but not sure I really buy that as a unified theory.

That 2009 Michigan class has a colossal bust rate.
5-star: Will Campbell (UM)
4-stars: Edwin Baker, Chris Norman, Andrew Maxwell, James Jackson (OSU), Cam Gordon (UM), Larry Caper, Dion Sims, Blake Treadwell, Jeremy Gainer, Donald Spencer.
Out of those, i'd say Baker, Norman, and Sims were the only ones who really lived up to the billing. Treadwell has been ok to good so far, and Maxwell....eh.
I guess maybe.
I value recruiting insight from the guy who said "Izzo's big man recruiting has been whiff after whiff after whiff" earlier this season.
Bumpity Bump Bump Bump
+1 only because they won't let me up vote more
To think we're currently even close to our recruiting 4-5 years ago is pure lunacy.
